I'd like to mention these are great for PvP as an alternative to cannibalize (or if you don't have it). It works the same way.

Kill somebody in PvP
Stand over them
Make sure they don't release
Use the apple

It should look like you roar over them, then crushing a red liquidy substance over them (could look like blood, but of course it's just apple bits). The enemy you killed will definitely be angry!

These apples can be used to defile an enemy corpse during PvP. A real bargain considering how cheap they are to buy.

Used to smash these while standing on my fallen enemies as a level one twink :) If you use a http://www.wowhead.com/item=21721/moonglow right before it it looks a lot like a scene from Dragonball :)
