Storm Peaks, from 53.1, 66.7 to the other side of the valley, 58.5 60.5.

Theres a group of roaming level 77-78 Stoic Mammoth that respawns instantly in one of two locations.

Best place I've found to farm this stuff is around the Glimmering Pillar in Sholazar Basin. The Shattertusk Mammoths there are plentiful and have the highest drop rate in the game (sometimes they drop two apiece) -- plus there's a few mammoth "families" roaming around for easy group kills.

Sholazar Basin is the best place to farm these.
East & North east of The Glimmering Pillar @ north section of the zone.

Scholazar yes, but the "altar of Mam'toth" in Zul'Drak is a very good place. The are all in the same area and they respawn rather fast. Just got 19 chunks in like 5-6 min

If you are working on cooking as you go and find yourself in need of some tasty Mammoth I recommend going to the Dragonblight and following the path sort of laid out in this map. It's sort of three loops really, I do the largest one and when I get to the smaller loops I run around those and then continue on the larger loop.

Not as quick as the others perhaps, but doable at 73ish.

Note: Injured mammoth cannot be looted, don't bother.

If you have the ability to take on groups of 2xlvl69+3xlvl68 and kill em fast, go this route in Borean Tundra. As a warlock its fairly easy, SoC+SoC+SoC+SoC+Drain Life.. 2secs later, BOOM, all dead. Stacks of 20 sells instantly on Sporeggar for 40g.

I AOE farmed the mammoth packs around the DEHTA base camp in Borean Tundra for the meat. I was able to farm two stacks in probably ten to twenty minutes easily. I haven't tried Sholazar Basin, but I don't recommend Storm Peaks because if you want access to the packs that run around, you have to have completed the Sons of Hodir quest chain, and if you go to the northeast portion of the zone, they're spread out and can't be AOE'd.

confirmed as best place to farm these. ESPECIALLY if you're a skinner (even better if you're LWing). Tried some of the other areas, but this had the highest yield. The "families" respawn rather quickly, allowing roughly 3 solo kills in between respawns.

farmed for about an hour and a half (moonkin AoEing the 2 families(6kills each) that spawn, 3 kills between: respawned families, repeat).

Yielded (coupled with skinning) :

9.5 stacks of Chunk o' Mammoth (190 pieces)
2 stacks of Heavy borean leather (240 borean leather)
2 arctic fur
2.5 stacks Chilled meat
9 green quality items (easily auctionable)
~80g worth of gray items

It's been a good morning indeed. Sholazar is the greeetest evaar.

If you are trying to make Gigantic Feasts... (I.E. getting cooking from level 425 to 450 and learning the coveted Fish Feast) I would recommend the DEHTA Camp in BT cause Rockfin Groupers & Deep Sea Monsterbellies can also be gather from the shores and oceans nearby.

Actually the best place to farm these isn't Zul Drak, or Storm Peaks, or Sholazar Basin... though they are decent and good alternatives.

Borean Tundra has a lot of mammoths around the lake, south of Amber Ledge, but even that is nothing compared to the little pocket of 4-5 mommoth families just west of Talramas (65,12). Right on the border between Borean Tundra and Sholazar Basin.

Though they don't double drop like in Sholazar Basin, you don't have to travel as far. There aren't lone mammoths sitting around and you don't wait for respawns at ALL. When the families are dead another family will instant respawn. You are killing massive amounts of mammoths in groups and never have to travel more than about 100 yards.

I know this is an old thread but I've tried all of the other areas and this little secret patch of mammoths is by far the best place I've found to farm. Figured it would be good to share with others. If you had a skinner following you, they'd clean up. They might not even be able to skin faster than you can kill at level 85.

So you can listen to the other posters if you like but THE BEST place to farm Chunk o' Mammoth (and borean leather while you're at it) is... Zul'Drak at The Altar of Mam'roth (near the temple).

There are only about 5 mammoths running around, but they are in a very small area and they respawn INSTANTLY.. in other words.. you simply can not ever kill all 5. I'm farming on a lv84 rogue, shadow stepping mammoth to mammoth and still can't kill them all, even though I am one shotting each one.

Now getting "Leather 139 Borean leather scraps 21 Borean leather " is all well and good, but personally, I would rather get ALL borean leather and no scraps at all. Not to mention, these have the higher drop rate for chunk o mammoth, than those in the other zones.
