I dont see the big deal that people are crying about future nerfs, all items with these procs are diminished in effectiveness against higher level characters. Just as a level 70 can duel you with two freezing bands on and they will see 'resist' over and over again on their screen. We all knew this since before TBC came out, this is nothing new.

On the idea of this being a level 29 item and suited for twinks where a level 70 quickly cleans all the mobs except doan. Then the twink zones in and has a chance for the item. Frankly it wouldn't matter if the item was 29 or 30 that stuff is still going to occur. Though most all those doan's will put the twink to level 30 which might be truely funny to someone at Blizzard.

Blizzard's own item database has updated and classified this item as having a very low (3-14%) drop rate. Pretty good for an epic. Shouldnt be too impossible for a twink to get.

well, it can't just be 0.2% drop chance on this... me and my brother boosed a friend of ours in SM and suddenly this thing dropped, without anyone of us ever have heard of it. my brother won the roll cause it could be usefull even if lvl 70 if the proc worked even then. I wanted the ring myself, so when we were done boosing my friend I went lib 2 times, i would prolly have gone there up to 5 times, but not anymore, so i didn't get my hopes up. the first time I killed him solo I got Illusionary rod and the robe... the second time I killed him I got the ring and the robe. so even with 14% drop rating that requires an insane amount of luck, but with a 0.2% drop chance as it sais.... it requires an unaturally insane amount of shitluck.

And what brackets are you fighting in? 1300? The scalar proc rate of this item means at 70 it'll almost never be going off. Smart move trading resilience and decent stats for 10 stam and a sub-1% proc.

I have dropped this ring myself sometime took me 3 runs to drop it the third time i had 4 twinks wíth me and i cleared the hole *!@# thy waited outside then the ring dropped and all rolled funny enough al lrolled 45 then i jsut told them that i was going to roll on it then i gave eacha number to number you know thy all got if it is 0-25 you get and so on and i rolled 100 lucky nr. 100 :) not hard to get as i think of it -.-

Expect to see this after NO LESS than 20 kills on average. If it drops earlier you got lucky. If it hasn't dropped yet and you have passed 20 kills dont be discouraged... the odds are now in your favor.

I have to say that I was blown away by how much this ring procs. In WSG, my druid buddy proc'ed it like 4 times in less than 2 minutes while defending me as the FC. It was insane. 5% proc rate is amazing. BTW...this was on the 29 bracket.

Anecdotal review: In the 39 bracket--with a feral druid--I fought a pally who had this.
I would conservatively estimate that the proc went off 4 times per encounter (I probably fought him 3 times, we are both twinks, obviously, if I am hitting him that many times).

For a pally...good for flag running or catching a heal (or making a druid noob like me shift-oom). For a class that depends on kiting and distance, I would say this is completely invaluable if you are going to stay at 29/39 for a while.

If you are a twink and are doubting if you should go for this since it "should" be hard to farm... go for it.
Me and my friend are making a twink together and we were basicly boosting eachother with our twinks still at lvl 21. Got our first one on attempt #3 and the 2nd one on about the 11th.

I have this item on my paladin, and have to say the proc is utterly useless for melee classes in pve. All it does it root the opponent into place, but hey, you're meleeing; you're not moving either!

I can imagine you may have some 'Fraps-moments' in low-bracket pvp with this, but nothing you can count on. It's 10 stamina, which is nice, but the proc is for comic effect and that's about it.

Proc chance is listed as 5%.

At level 70, using the *0.66 formula, this will be
5*0.66=3.333~.

So it would be approx 3.3% proc chance, for level 70.

As a prot paladin farming instances as lvl 70 this is so so. IWhile you pull and run it can come in handy if some mobs are frozen in place. It minimizes damage a little but is it worth switching for other lvl 70 epic rings, I dunno. I have green rings and use this one for know...

Freezing Band I still have on my PvP level 70 Frost Mage. Got it for 60g at level 48 and kept it since. I think it stacks with Spell Hit + but im not sure, I might just be getting 'loved' by Warriors a LOT more than I think...

Got today on my soon to be lvl 39 Rogue Twink I found the easiest way to get it was park my rogue twink at the front of the instance, then with my prot pallie on a different account i would clear the first hallway and courtyard area all in one nice big AOE pull. I would then run to Doan, Tag him and run back to the entrance with all the mobs in tow. Id run around teh corner almost to the portal so the ranged would come into range and then i would consencrate them down.

Took about 15-20 runs, and i think its been stated that the drop is actually about 5%.

I ran maybe 6 times to get is on my hunter twink.
It dropped on the 6th run.
Came back about 2 hours later, on the first run it dropped again, then about 5 runs later it dropped again, then i ran again the next day and it dropped again. Four drops in less than 12 hours. AMAZING!

When I disenchanted it I got 4 Large Glowing Shards.

I ran my draenei shaman through SM 2 times, once as a lvl 30 (i leveled once inside), and again the next day as a 32, and picked up deadman's hand on the second run. the first run didn't drop much of anything useful, but i got a LOT out of the second. word to the wise..if you are going in as a shaman, make sure you are going in as a healer (i am not, i'm elemental), because the majority of the guys inside are totally resistant to most of your spells...better for you to just sit back and heal=)

I got it for my pally twink in the making today.

I got it on my 21st run.

I used a prot pally / fire mage / frost mage (only 1 at a time) for 5 runs each time, (hitting the instance cap in about 30 minutes, then logging, coming back in 30ish and repeat).

I just got the 70 to tag the boss, run back to the entrance, kill, loot (with group loot) and repeat. I didn't get too much exp. My twink went from level 20 to 22 from the 21 attempts.

I noticed that, the prot pally was best, followed by the fire mage, with the frost mage being the slowest. All similarly geared. Id say player skill level was fairly even. The prot pally was doing each run in about 5 minutes.

Ok well I started off trying to get this ring around level 30ish, when I was in my SM craze. I was (and still am) tanking hella lot and the +10 stam beats all other rings around that level, add a sweet effect and a purple name, and you got one badass ring. A few SM lib runs later I was frustrated that it wasn't dropping.. So I looked at the drop rate and wanted to cry. My guild ran SM lib about 5 times every day and still nothing.. To do this day I haven't seen this ring drop and I still stealth SM lib to doan (I am level 52 currently) just to see if it will drop. This ring is EXTREMELY Rare. For the 29 twinks out there counting on being able to get this.. Don't count on it, especially with limited runs per hour.

Theres a very easy way to run this all u have to have is close friesnds or guildies looking for a quick buck run the instance with ure main preferbaly lvl 50-60 drop rate is higher then than at 70 ive heard anyways run until it drops dont loot invite a friend to ure party have him come to SM dont log out until he enters the instance then log onto twink(have him outside the entrance) run in and loot the ring easy simple and u dont waste countless money on other people to run u thru the instance and u can skip mobs so theres no aggro on ure high lvl hunters are preferably the best people for the job grab a few stack of swiftness pots run to doan fiegn death kill him if he drops the ring clear the rest of the instance and do what i said oh and pay the guildy to stay in the one spot if u dont trust him well enough

This ring, while overall good for most melee classes, can actually prove annoying at times if you plan on stunning anything. At the very least it shares DR (diminishing returns) with Hammer of Justice, so on my pally I was getting 2-3 sec stuns where I'd usually get 5, due to this ring proccing (at worthless times mind you).

If you're doing something where you *need* the full duration stun - for example, soloing a difficult elite where you need to stun + heal, and need the full duration to get it off - it's not necessarily a bad idea to take it off.

Just solo'd Arcanis Doan for this, dropped first try.

Ashighttur, Lvl 45 Feral Druid.
Maelstrom Server.

Wasn't difficult, I stealthed back to Doan, I never even had to leave Cat Form. Resisted most of his spells, and he didn't hit me for more than 20 damage per.

Quick and simple, haven't gotten to see it proc yet, but I can't wait.

I farmed 2 of these in an hour for both myself and my boyfriend's twinks using the technique described by Neverlife, which took roughly 3 mins per instance reset.

I can't believe how lucky I am..... I just 'finished' my twink 2 days ago, and decided today to try and get this, with some help from a friend.

So i ran in, and waited for my friend to arrive. I committed suicide at the 1st mobs, and my paladin-friend ran and pulled the boss and the whole instance to my corpse and nuked'em all. He looted the boss, and there it was alongside with the mantle.

-1st run i tried, and also the very 1st time i've ever seen it drop... -and i've done coutless SM's in my time.

Quite possibly the best ring for a 39 Druid.

Coupled with http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=16689 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=7375 you will constantly find yourself escaping from very dangerous situations, as there are quite a few rogues in that bracket (GOFIGURE).

As any decent 39 druid will have a healer/oomkin and FC set, having a ring that gives you the most Stam in the bracket as well as a chance to root any threat on you can only be good news. Numerous times I've been opened by a rogue only for him to get rooted and for me to trink/travel to freedom. One time a rogue even blew sprint to catch me proceeded to hit me, then promptly fell asleep, just as 3-6 of my allies came over the hill.

THe Green Whelp Armor/Nature's Grasp/Deadman's Hand gear combo is invaluable as a 39 druid. Use it wisely.

I went in to lib, my first run with me (35 pally), 34 Priest, 58 DK, 37 Warrior and a 35 Shammy.

We went through the whole instance, I dinged right after Loksley, then we killed Doan, he dropped the and everyone was like "WTF?", Almost everyone rolled need, I rolled a 92, and I got the ring! First time I ever see that ring drop. (Well, actually first time I see it in game)

Was farming for this and the Torturing Poker from Graveyard, went first to Graveyard, then Library and then reset, back to Graveyard then Library and reset. Took me less than 10 to get Deadman's Hand, and about 20 to get the Torturing Poker. Now going more in Graveyard to get a second Torturing Poker, but from my experience the ring isn't too rare to get. You can get it in 1-2 hours probably with 80 char who can aoe the mobs down i.e. Paladin/DK (since they have high armor and good HP by default)

I went this with DK, in Graveyard I just leave my twink on the door, then I go and Death Grip Interrogator Vishas, kill it and loot it. Then I go to Library, pull ~3/4 of the mobs to the room just before Arcanist Doan and aoe them down with Death and Decay, then I just bodypull Arcanist Doan without dealing any damage and run down to the door and kill it there, loot and go out. Group Loot on at all times.

I just got it on my frost mage. It's pretty nice cause I do more DMG to frozen targets and this ring has a chance to freeze the target. It gives nice stamina as well.

I'm trying to get this for my level 29 paladin reb. twink. Think the drop chance of 2% is pretty fair, and the percentage given by wow-armory is weird in my opinion: 3 - 14%. It can't be higher than 10%, that would be to easy obtainable for a twink. I done this instance for 15 times now and got nothing, but I think it will take about 1,5 week farming this one 20x a day to get it :/ But will be worth it, not as good stats as some other rings, but rooting someone for 3 seconds it awesome :)

I think this ring is an awesome item, cuz of the lvl it is for, however there is really no use farming it, cuz u can get even a better ring at last boss in uldaman. The freezing ability is quite nice though, It came to use when I had it on my rogue. besides it is very nice to walk around with an epic equiped lol :P

The drop chance of this ring is roughly 3%.

The Arcanist Doan kills listed on wowhead include a lot of kills from the time before Deadman's hand could drop. So, the drop chance listed is essentially incorrect. I compared the previous ring drop statistics to the updated ones:
25333 kills/518 rings
25633 kills/527 rings

Therefore 9 rings dropped on the last 300 kills = 3% drop chance. This can still change a lot, since 9 drops is next to nothing, but probably a better estimate than 2%.

This ring dropped today for me level 33 prot. spec warrior and I won it, funny thing is...my group other then my huntard friend was REALLY bad and even caused us to wipe once, but the run paid off and I got the ring. : D it like never proc's but the stam. is always nice. plus, its an epic so it works... : D

just got this little b*tch tonight after around 40 runs.

so i read a post today - a guy said he had opened a ticket and asked if the ring was still on doan's loot table, since he'd done lotsa runs with no drop. the gm comfirmed that it was in fact still there. so then the guy happened to get it on his next run.

yeah, mkay, so me, im thinkin "the fu@#ing gm PUT it there!" (that or this poster is full of sh*t)

so first run today, while i was waiting outside the instance, waiting for my buddy to clear up to boss, i opened a ticket and just said i'd been farming it for months and please confirm it's still on his loot table. just very polite and simple question. i did not chat with a gm and i deleted the ticket 20 minutes later because

the ring dropped on for me on the very next run after that O.O

After patch 3.2 this is extremely easy to get for a twink. It does matter (previously does not matter) where the twink is, as you can simply trade the ring to the twink after looting it. Simply run straigt to Doan, kill him, loot and trade if you got the ring. As a lvl 65 blood/unholy (for rune tap and the other talents) DK I can kill Doan every 1-3 minute (will edit when I got a stopwatch) which makes for some extremely fast farming. The only thing that makes this difficult to get now is bad luck and "You have entered too many instances recently". If you get the too many instances thingy, simply switch booster/twink. Also, try to get this relatively early because in the evening you will most likely be stuck on "additional instances cannot be launched" for a while at least if you're playing on EU.

Edit: Let the twink just go down the stairs or something and s/he should be able to get the loot.

With the new LFD system, this ring is unremarkable. The +10 stam I can get from other rings, like Dragonclaw Ring from the escort quest in RFD, or a Aquamarine Signet / Tumultuous Ring with the proper enchantment.
The random root proc is really annoying and always pops at the wrong moment for me, like when I'm trying to position mobs or drag them away from another group or pat. ANNOYING!

I have just been traded that ring from a Druid in the group who needed it.

Being a tank, this ring is a definite upgrade over other items available to me; it even prevents mobs from running away, in the case they actually do ever "run away in fear".

I got this today, some druid healer started trying to argue with me about giving it him because he thought he was a better tank even though he decided to go healer :P And when he went into bear form i still had better stats then him.

i ran library for the first time on my warrior tank and the ring dropped. i was stoked cause i had no idea he dropped an epic and a nice one at tht. but whn i needed it i saw tht every1 else had needed it. my group consisted of a priest, mage, lock, and rogue. well turns out the mage got it. tht ring would of been nice for me...the tank but no somebody should focus on int and spell power got it instead. sum people jus make me mad

This and the Dragonclaw ring(Anello dell'Artiglio di Drago), stacks stam really well for a Warrior or Paladin. Hunters don't need it considering the whole range aspect, Shaman, Warlocks, Priests and Mages, have zero need for this, and Rogues shouldn't worry about freezing an attacker when you have sap and stun lock. I'm noticing a lot of people "want" more than they actually need an item, which makes for tons of Facepalms in game.

Let the tank get this one, the 10+ stam isn't too bad, I know the proc and the fact that its purple make people go "ZOMG PURPLES", but if it was blue it wouldn't get that much fame. To all the twink rogues that have this....you're a twink...and a bad one at that if you "need" this.

So, no one really said it yet, but this ring is excellent for low-level tanks with terrible luck from the loot-sacks. Everyone has been talking about the on-struck effect, but no one about the +10 stamina, which (at a low level) is pretty good for a tank. Even then, just talking about the effect, look at where it drops: Scarlet Monastery. A place infamous for mobs that like to run away from you and find friends. Anything that will keep a few from running away for even a couple seconds is gonna help any tank.
tl;dr: PvP utility? Massive. Tanking utility? More situational on the effect, BUT the stamina makes it more than awesome in the level range one would expect to find this.

Just had this ring drop on my first random dungeon run with my guild. Needless to say me and my hunter guildie needed. But I won. Unfortunately this isn't that great anymore, considering the X of the X items. I did one battleground with this on, and it only procced once. Poor.

This just dropped for me the first time ever on my elemental shaman. Considering i do much pvp, i decided to need this ring. Much to my surprise the only one in the 5 man group of mine that needed it aswell as me was the hunter in the group. I won it and since then it has saved me a couple of times in bg's from them nasty rogues ;)

This ring is excellent for any class that plans to PvP, despite how people may argue against it. It is also great for pet classes because the effect can proc for your pet as well. PvE uses are limited, but it is nice for Dungeon Finder survivability because not all groups are created equal. Aside from that, its probably the first epic you'll come across, so why not let everyone have their fair roll at it :) ?

In random dungeon finder, almost everyone need rolls on this just for the hell of it. Even caster dps and healers.
Nobody seems to care that it's for tanks. I highly doubt that would be the case if the ring was blue. :(

Well, as a Druid tank I was stoked to see this drop. At the time I was level 33 and I had no rings. The +10 stamina buff was great and the extra proc was just an addition to the awesomeness. Then a shadow priest needed on it and won.

Figured I'd might as well share my most recent go with this little fella. I haven't played for a little while now and haven't tested it out in legion so don't have more recent experiences.

I decided to pull this thing from the vault during Warlords of Draenor and give it a go on my prot warrior in PvP for fun and see if it actually would still work. Well it did a lot better than work and Blizzard must have screwed something up with the coding for the item's proc rate as it everything that hit me had around a 50% chance of being frozen.

I initially tried the proc rate on some boars outside of the garrison in frostfire ridge for fun and the smaller boars were almost permanently frozen so it must affect lower levels significantly more.

I have no proof since I didn't bother recording at the time but a hunter used multishot on me and was frozen 8 times throughout the multishot and I slowly proceeded to just waltz up without charge and take care of him with ease as evertime he'd poke and run he'd only move a few feet before getting frozen again (On temple of Kotmogu).

I continued to use it and was playing a game of Deepwind Gorge going solo for the payload and I got caught by a rogue and monk(?) who also proceeded to get frozen approximately 6 times each during the fight before I went down. I sat there and watched after the fight before hitting release and they both just stood there dumbfounded for approximately 10 seconds before going on with the battleground. I'm sure they've hotfixed it by now seeing as Legion has been out for quite some time now but those games were the most fun I've had in WoW for a long time as it was hilarious watching the proc rate soar through the sky.

I still have it equipped and but not subscribed right now so can't test it. Just figured I'd share my little story here. If you have a build of WoD you can certainly test it out for yourself or maybe they haven't fixed it but good luck with it!

Edit (Patch 8.1): Just resubbed and actually recorded a little bit, this time including Furiatonante, Lama Benedetta del Vento Eterno. Results were pretty comparable https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6RSnS3S3_4

It’s a shame they removed this, I still have it on my old vanilla 29 that is now sitting at level 60. With the new item scaling the freezing band can scale up to 60 if you’re lucky enough to find it. A good replacement I’d say.

The way this can be done by entering the Old Scarlet Monastery (duh..) and the way you do it is via obtaining which once in your bag you have to enter the monastery (non-instanced) and you will notice a key-chain that will also be marked on your map the first time you click it because it gives you a quest that will require your newly obtained Scarlet Key,
as for this key there 3 simple methods to obtain:
Method 1: Key drops from the Loot Filled Pumpkin that you get after killing the Headless Horseman in LFG. You get bonus drop chance for the key and for the mount the first kill each day if you do it on "Hardmode". The way you enable said "Hardmode" is via speaking to the middle drustvar statue in the same room where the fight happens BEFORE you summon him.
Method 2: Action House - prices range from 10k- 50k.
Method 3: Friends. If any of your friends have the key they can run you through the old version of Scarlet Monastery: Library, after killing the final boss you can loot the key from the box in the last room.
Bonus instructions:
Once you have the key and completed the quest you can go back to the key-chain at any given time to change from old version to new version and vice versa. You will receive a buff that has the same icon as the key, this marks that the next time you enter any of the 4 SM portals, you will be entering the vanilla version.

Bonus gold cheese for those who red this far:
While you're running Scarlet Library, at the end of the last room where the last boss is you can still loot the key which has 100% drop chance from the box there and put it in the action house for some extra gold while you at it grinding whatever you're grinding.

That would be a huge win for the twink community
