This is one of the three loot cards in the new expansion for the WoW Trading Card Game: Through the Dark Portal. The only way to obtain this item is from a code revealed on the trading card.

When you come across the "King Mukla" card (http://sales.starcitygames.com/cardscans/WOWPOR/DP_244.jpg) you will again get the code with the ability to enter it in game and get the cute pet, no special actions of this pet are available.

Check into the "WoW Trading Card Game: Through the Dark Portal" game for more information on all the other "loot cards"

However it is extremely adorable! (great gift for the lady in your life :D)

Where does it come from and how hard is it to get?

Distribution: Dark Portal booster boxes contain 24 boosters and cost approx $40 USD (inc. shipping), therefore the average cost of obtaining this particular loot is $403.00.

How much would I expect to pay for one off eBay or similar?
According to http://www.wowtcgloot.com/banana_charm.htm (most information sourced from there), the lowest Buy It Now price starts around $52 USD upwards to $75 USD, with the average quantity listed hovering around 3 items.

This item summons a little pet monkey named "Bananas".
Useable at any level and therefore available for twinks.

How do the Loot cards work?
Loot cards are special rare versions of WoW TCG cards found in booster packs, starter decks, and raid decks that have a revealable unique code. Once this protective layer concealing the code is scratched away, a 25 digit promotion code is revealed that can be entered into the Blizzard offical promotions page. These codes work for both US and EU servers.

I have the 25 digit loot code, now what?
All accounts from every region in the world use http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/promotion.html to redeem any and all special loot. This webpage allows you to enter the 25 digit promotion code and also select the region and realm for the character that will receive the loot item.

Upon succcessfuly submitting the above information, you will be presented with an in-game code. Write this code down or print it out; you will need it to retrieve your item. Log into the game with the character that is to receive the item and travel to Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale. There, you will need to find a goblin by the name of Landro Longshot. He is located on the lower parts of Booty Bay on the docks, and should be easily recognised due to the fact that he has a distinctive purple shirt and two body guards next to him.

When you find Landro, he will first ask if you are here for a promotion, and then ask you which TCG expansion your item comes from (or Points Redemption); check your loot card if you are not sure which item that is. Ensure you have got bag space to hold the item!

Other than the loot card itself, this will be obtainable with the Mists of Pandaria expansion pack through the Black Market Auction House. Be prepared to pay big for it!

Unless I'm missing something this is the exact same model and skin as Piccola Scimmia including the exact same battle pet attacks. So I wouldn't bother to purchase this item in BM AH unless you are serious collector who needs every single pet.

In February 2021, during Blizzconline, it was announced Banana would be a reward from Blizzard's World of Warcraft Charity Pet Program:

With the upcoming World of Warcraft Charity Pet program, we’ll be supporting the medical humanitarian aid organization Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and we’re making some improvements to how the program works. During this campaign, you’ll be able to donate any amount you wish directly to MSF. We’ll be tracking your contributions during the donation period, and once a pre-set goal has been reached, we’ll make Bananas the monkey available for everyone playing modern World of Warcraft as a thank you, whether you were able to donate personally or not. In addition, if we reach an additional stretch goal, everyone will receive a second pet Daisy the sloth. She’s an all-new pet that you can carry with you everywhere you go right on your back! Your donations during this program will go to MSF’s COVID-19 Crisis Fund to support MSF’s global response to the pandemic and its consequences (donations will be collected by MSF-USA.)
