Ive heard these drop in the Black Temple. Wonder how often they will drop. At this point you will have a lot of socketed items, which means upgrading from +9 gems in most sockets would make a big difference.

I heard the uncut epic gems will "drop" when you prospect ores as well, can anyone confirm or deny that?

After killing Anetheron (2nd boss of Hyjal) 5 mines spawned each with 1 epic gem in them and the usual blue/green gems. Once I get some more info on this ill update what they can be mined from. Possibly after completing each section of Hyjal these spawn? Not sure.

the Spinel and other various gems drop from Black Temple trash (quite often to be honest, drops about 10-12 each BT run for my guild), also you can mine them after killing 2 bosses in Mount Hyjal on the way to the next camp.

Obviously those are the best gems by far for many classes hence the high demand and low supply.

As of 2.4, all BT gems will be sold by Shaani for 15 badges.

shaani also sell designs. that will have to be payed for with gold not with badges like the gems.

Once your realm reaches Phase 4, Shaani the "Jewelcrafting Supplies" vendor will spawn, however she won't sell epic gems until the Alchemy Lab is completed.
If you want to make hundreds of gold, farming Badge of Justice and spending them on Crimson Spinels is the best way to go.

All I know is this... I spent 45 badges for 3 Crimson Spinel. Had a guildy cut them in to Bright Crimson Spinel, and sold them in less than 30 minutes on the AH for 600G per on Thunderhorn.

For those of you doubting this money making machine... don't. Thats the easiest 1800G (less the AH cut) I've ever made.

This makes Kara worth running everyweek... half a clear will get you 600+ gold.

I have actually got one from my "Brilliant glass". One Crimson Spinel". Guess Epic rare gems can drop from that ability with JC now.

I cannot help, raiding to get epic gems is just odd. Most people will simply get the gems through badges of justice, which is nice but still only a bandaid.

We could use some more mini-dungeon locations where a few "epic nodes" could spawn. We have Khorium, we have Rich Adamantite veins - so let us have something like that for epic gems, too.

P.S.: I am only a miner, not a jewelcrafter. I just find it odd that the majority of Jewelcrafters have to do rather odd things like "brilliant glas" or do instance runs to get their gems...

The Cardinal Ruby of BC.

Theory: These were the the Top end Gems in BC and they just dropped from Everywhere in raids (BT,SWP and such)
I wonder if Blizz is gonna do the same thing with ICC and Gems.... O.o

These are in good demand now due to Timewalking dungeon events. +10 Ag/St/Int are the most popular cuts.

If you're a jewelcrafter with the +10 st/ag/int recipes, I'd suggest buying these before the TW events if they're cheap. The gems usually sell well during the event, so you can make a nice profit depending of your server's economy. :)
