For those who want to keep the goggles: they wont be deleted if you remove the quest from your log. Equipping them outside SMV will bring up an error message, but you'll still get the visual effect. :)

If you equip the spectrecles before you enter shadowmoon valley, they may not work for you during the quest. re-equip them and they should start working. XD

They get replaced by another helmet that works just the same but actually plays the part of armour if you complete the quest.

Also, with all the stuff to do in Shadowmoon, it's hideously easy to swap out your goggles for real armour, and forget they're needed for the quests early.

There is another way you can (temporarily) get these. There are two quests in Shadowmoon Valley that give you the Spectrecles for the duration of the quest: Gli Araldi di Torvaluna ("Harbingers of Shadowmoon" for you Alliance players), and Lenti Spiritate ("Spectrecles" for all my Hordies! LOK'TAR OGAR!)

Complete the chain required to get one of these quests.
Get the quest.
Put on the Spectrecles.
Have fun!

I came back to this area for loremaster and I absolutely could not figure out where to get these. I checked in with Zorus the Judicator multiple and there was no option to get a new pair. No option for anything... they were in my bank. >.>

These are now transmogabble in 10.5 and can be worn by any armor type.
If you have never done this quest before, for Alliance you can start from Sotto la cenere and Horde Una storia di fantasmi.
Once you complete the above quest then you can get the Spectrecles in the next quest. You don't even need to finish the quest.
Once you accept the quest the Spectrecles will be in your inventory and you will learn the appearance automatically.
If you have already finished this quest but haven't gotten the appearance yet, you can always buy it from Capo Speziale Hildagard for Horde or Zorus il Giudicatore for Alliance.

I had it stored in the bank from questing in Shadowmoon Valley pre 10.0.5, and now it have become a BoP cosmetic. Since the item was equipped as part of said pre-10.0.5 questing, it is now a Soulbound Cosmetic. Which somehow can't be equipped again because it is a cosmetic, but can't be used to learn it's appearance because it already is soulbound. Quite a limbo.

No more seeing Ghosts in Shadowmoon Valley, I guess. :(

Edit: Now fixed, can yet again be equipped.

I got these a few days ago in order to use them for transmog, but was unable to equip them in order to gain the cosmetic effect. Apparently they fixed that because I was able to equip them yesterday (while in the Dragon Isles) and they do show up on my Appearances tab for transmog.
