These sell for a surprising amount on the AH. I've sold several stacks of these for upwards of 4g per stack. They are a great way to make quick money.

they are also used to power level blacksmithing; one needs 80-100~ of them to get ast certain point.

I'm selling stacks currently on Aerie Peak and I've gotten up to 22g per stack. These sell ridiculously high and well. You'd be crazy not to sell these on the AH.

The spawn rate on Elemental Slaves is fairly low if you are killing them to farm Heavy Stones, there also appears to be slightly less now that there is a crater instead.

Went to Ashenvale and killed Searing Infernals, however they seem to share spawn points with the other demons and there are even less of them.

Stick to Dalaran Crater if you want to farm these.

Frostwolf sever(ally) all of the stone is gone :( you got to farm it yourself on bright side its still 40s-1g a stack

I farm those from Infernals in southeastern Ashenvale, i get nice money for them

As stated, they drop from elementrals near the crater. This makes, in my opinion, alterac mountains the best place to farm them, as there is a decent amount of iron veis arround there too that gives you these.
For an extra bonus you can find allot of tin and possibly some mithril too.
would not recomend to farm there as a low level tho, as some of the mobs arround there summons additional mobs that takes a few hits and does some damage... I have myself died a couple of times because of that when simply questing an leveling there.

I went to the Dalaran Crater located in Hillsbrad Footfills and I did 1 full clear on the elementals got 6 Heavy Stones. Also! while you are waiting for respawns the nice Random Heroic dungeon finder helps pass that time by!~ or Random Dungeon if you are low level! ENJOY!

Hrm, my server has a stack of 7 for 30g and 4 stacks of 20 for 199g each. Is that typical? Or are some people insane again?

Also, for farming these... what about Badlands? Tons of earth elementals there and I remember gathering bags full of all kinds of stones, from grey trash stones up to elemental earth. Oh, wait, the profession-type stone from them is probably solid stones, not heavy stones, right?

Still... on a money note... these used to be good trash money for that level. (if you don't have a high level alt on that server to support you, obviously) Just dump your bags into your bank before going out there, loot all, and go back and forth to sell at the Blacksmithing supplier (goblin named Jazzrik) in the middle of Badlands (North, Northwest of Agmond's End). Probably better ways of making money these days, but this used to be a really good way. Plus Elemental Earth sells for a nice chunk too. About 5g per. I remember when farming bots used to farm these constantly cuz they sold for an amazing 1g50s each. *ROFL*

Note: I meant sell the trash stones at the vendor and keep the better level stones for selling at the AH, like the solid stones and the elemental earth. Of course, this technique might be obsolete these days. Been a long time since I leveled up a lowbie in Azeroth... so I don't know if the "tricks" might have changed. Probably have.

DO NOT FARM FOR THIS.

I went to farm for them, but got like 15 in 1hours -.-

Go mine them from Iron Deposit's it has a 52% chance of drop, which is a hell of alot better then 32% from the Elemental Slave around Alterac Mountains

dont go to the crater! i went there and farmed those elements and didn't get a single one. not sure where else to find them because they are not in my AH.

Ah Dalaran Crater, you were so good for us while it lasted.... just went to farm for my newest lil' blacksmith, and nada, elementals are gone.

I found mining iron deposits in Western Plaguelands yields the most heavy stone.

You can get Pietra Pesante from Iron Deposits. A couple good places to mine Iron is Western Plaguelands, Feralas and I like Arathi Highlands as well. If you're leveling JC I suggest keeping your Pietra Pesante for they will come in handy and get you up to skill level 130.

Dont know why there is lots of comments to go to Badlands. Badlands is bad. I did 1 full ring around badlands and yielded

174 x Mithril ore
5 x Truesilver Ore
2 x Copper Ore
2 x Tin Ore
2 x Gold Ore

198 x Solid stone
6 x Rough stone
1 x Aqua Marine
1 x Star Ruby

0 Heavy stone.....

didn't bother checking the inner part of badlands

Instead I went to arathi Highlands. A lot less nodes but all Iron Ore.

1 ring yielded:

24 x Iron Ore
7 x Silver Ore
24 x Heavy Stone
13 x Course Stone
2 x Citrine
2 x Lesser Moonstone

I definitely recommend doing a loop of WPL for this. Going from Chillwind Camp as a starting point all the way around the 'edge' to Gahrron's Withering I got 66x Minerale di Ferro and 67x Pietra Pesante. Took me around 20 mins to do.

Go to Feralas and be Happy... 20min farming (it gives me 1 round by all Feralas and:

108 Iron Ore
112 Heavy Stone
11 Mithril Ore
8 Gold ore
10 Silver ore

and a bunch of some gems, Feralas is the best place so far!
