You find it along the canyon edges, not near trees or open ground.

The easiest way to describe a place where you can find one is to just go to your left once you exit the tunnel leading into Blade's Edge from Zangarmash - ride along the 'teeth-like' rocks and you should see plenty of Dragonspines.

Asuming they spawn at the same places i found mine at Blade's Edge Mountains (48, 67)

They also can be found between the border (Not Cave) of Zangarmarsh and Blade's Edge, Ride across the wall and you'll find some. Very north of Zangarmarsh

The herbs are found at the bases of the spikes all over Blade's Edge Mountains.

There is a group of five of them on the ground in zangarmarsh at 47, 30.

If you're an Herbalist, and you can't find them at the point that QuestHelper says they're at? You'll need to temporarily hide QuestHelper but opening up your map, and clicking the "QuestHelper" button in the top right corner. Turns out the cluster of Dragonspine is so closely packed together that they are actually covered up by the QuestHelper minimap icon. They're also not "on the ends of the jagged rock formations" as the note that Greatmother Geyah gives you says, so don't go around grumping that you can't do this quest until you get flying. (Like I did.)

Despite the paper given to you for the quest describing Dragonspine as growing "upon the ends of the jagged rock formations," I have found them only on the rock near the base. I haven't found them actually growing on the spine itself, so keep an eye on the ground as well.
