These are a rep turn-in for Kurenai(Alliance), Mag'har(Horde), and the Consortium(Neutral).

You need ten of each for each turn-in. It would be best (IMO) to do both of the starter quests your faction and the Consortium as those award XP and rep. Then, save them for whichever you think will be more useful to grind rep.

In my case (as a warrior who likes stamina and a dwarf hunter who likes guns), this is the Consortium. I'm not worried about getting rep for the Kurenai as neither of my toon's professions or is greatly aided by the Kurenai rewards.

Dropping at a roughly 1/3 (33%) drop rate, these obsidian beads are used to turn in for reputation. They give 500 per 10.

Kurenai reputation is primarily used to obtain the special epic mount - a "Talbuk"

Assuming you start at 0/12000 honored, to grind ogres to exalted would take roughly 1238 kills.

MATH:
Honored rep (12k) + Revered rep (21k) = 33k Rep Points
Drop Rate on Ogres (33%), 10 rep per ogre, 500 rep per Turn-in.
So, about 30 kills per turn-in, that's 300 rep (kills) + 500 rep (turn-in) = 800 rep for 30 kills, so...

33,000 divided by 800 rep = 41.25
41.25 x 30 kills = 1237.5 or 1238 Ogre Kills.

You get quite a bit of rep from quests too. I think getting rep with the Kurenai (for Alliance anywas) is a peice of cake (or pie) compared to any other rep grind in the game. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to stealth nerf it, it's that easy. Would be really nice if some of the other rep grinds were this easy...or at least more fun.

Complete all the quests for the Kurinai in Zangarmarsh and then in Nagrand itself, completed all the chains, and after that had to start grinding the ogres for the beads, and for the 10 beads in a stack to turn in multiple sets.. remember that it will be 10 rep for kill as stated above, in a party of 2 or more people you kill more ogres, and faster bead acquisition.. if you are a druid, id recommend you are feral :) makes things go faster....

Each of the warbeards x10 give 500 Reputation for Kurenai.
This is atleast like that for my Night Elf hunter and been so ever since Friendly and all the way to Revered (still works while revered)

An important note that has been so far totally ignored in these comments is that Zaxxis Insignias in Netherstorm are an easier way to rep up with Consortium than the warbeads are, because they drop more frequently (Insignias drop around 50% of the time, while warbeads drop roughly 33% of the time).

So no, it's not a total waste to use the warbeads for Kurenai or Mag'har, especially if you're like me and think talbuks are more or less the best thing since sliced bread (and are on a server where Halaa is contested maybe once a month).

Everyone here seems to completely ignore the talbuk aspect of the Kurenai/Mag'har factions. Remember, this is a game and if you want a talbuk and you want to get it fast by turning these in instead of stiffly maximizing your reputation gain you ARE allowed to so.
Its about fun, not efficiency, remember?

Also whats great about grinding on the ogres is that you get oshu'gun powder which you can turn into Halaa for research tokens (when your faction has control). that gives you some great rewards

The best grinding spot for affliction warlocks is the cave at (40,32). No self-healing mobs and interruptable frost mages (instead of shamans which use totems or Earth shock). Also, mobs are little bit more near from each other, which allows you to "Tab & DoT" in a more efficient way, especially if you're using Darkmoon Card: Crusade

The drop rate is about 33%. Thast one drop per three kills. One kill awards ~1000 exp and ~10 Kurenai/Mag'Har honor.

For ten of these that would mean 30 kills. That is ~30k exp and ~300 honor.
And when you turn them in an extra 500 honor.

These are defintly worth grinding. Especially good if you combine it with those quest involving the Warmaul tribe

Up to 10,000 rep for a 200 stack turn in.

200 Divided by 10 = 20
20x500= 10,000

33 % chance to drop off ogres.

200x3 = 600 ogres to get 200 Beads and + the 10 rep bonus from 600 kills(10x600) = 6,000 + 10,000 = 16,000.

I did the calculation for me since I wanted to get to Revered With Consortium and Exalted with Kurenai so see how many Ogres I would need to kill.

So assuming starting at 0/12000 Honored with both you would need
12000 Consortium divided by 250 a turn in = 48 Turn ins * 10 Warbeads/Turn in= 480 Warbeads
480 Warbeads * 3 Orges/Warbead = 1440 Orges

Now you will have gained 14400 Kurenai rep by grinding Consortium so you will only need 18600 to reach exalted.

Figuring 800 Rep a turn in from an above post you would need 18600 rep divided by 800 rep/turn in = 23.25 turn ins.

23.25 turn ins * 30 Ogres/Turn In = 697.5 ~ 698 Ogres.

Adding those together you will need 2138 Ogres to get Exalted with Kurenai and Revered with Consortium.

I'm 810/12000 for Consortium and 918/21000 for Kurensi so I have 1594 Orges left to kill.....*sigh*

To chip in on the number crunching, if anyone's curious…

500 per Kurenai turn-in of 10 beads = 50 rep per bead

and 33% droprate off all ogres

…means that the bead turn-in adds about 16⅔ rep to each ogre kill.

So as you're killing, imagine you're gaining 26⅔ rep each instead of 10! :D

Always be sure to read (thoroughly) what's written on WoWhead before you try and farm. I made the -stupidest- mistake by mis-reading what was written.

the first numbers I saw pop up were ''250'', so I assumed 250 rep / 10 beads for Kurenai!

Let's just say, I got 100 beads more than required.

Also, if you're farming for Consortium rep, go south of Area 52 in Netherstorm and kill the Zaxxis raiders. they have a higher drop rate on their insignias than the ogres do for the beads. Plus, along with the random key (these come along quite often when AoEing big groups), that's MORE rep, free items AND you have a chance of getting rep with other factions (you may free a trapper Keeper of time NPC, for example, and get rep for them). Also, if you have any other people in the group, be sure to have them tag along when opening the Prisons. they get rep too!

I've been grinding these off boulderfist ogres and the drop rate appears to be much lower than in the past. When I did the exalted grind they were dropping at 33%. It seems much lower now I kill 5-6 mobs for one. It's been like this for days now. It's becoming a pain.

A great place to farm the warbeads is at 62, 73. I tried this place out just a second ago, and my first 5 dropped Obsidian Warbeads AND Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Samples. After those 5, it started to slow down to every other one, but this is way faster than any other ogres I have seen so far.

I use to farm these beads in Nagrand when i had to get both Mag'har and Consortium rep.
I figured out that I could kill 1 mod in about 30 sec. (with rest/eating time) on my rogue.

So remembering this:
10 Mag'har rep pr. mob
33% chance to get beads on mobs

I came up with this:
Farming pr. 1 hour (120 mobs) = 1200 Mag'har rep + 1000 Consortium rep (about 40 beads = 4 turn ins at Consortium).

3.960 mobs to get Exalted with both

The drop rate off the Warmaul ogres seems to be much worse than 33%, maybe 20% now. Grinding these is hard work.

I find it far easier, after lvl 70, to fly around to all the spots that have the Ogres. With my DK, who's got mining and Skinning, I find it easier to keep moving and not wait for respawn of ore. I also find that I don't need to wait at all for mobs to respawn. I can easily get 2k faction in just a couple hours or work, without turn ins. I also get stacks of ore to boot.

I found that the Burning Blade Ruins at was a little hard to navigate quickly in order to clear the area efficiently.

I found the best source I found for farming these beads was to clear the two caves at and . Once you are done clearing one, just mount up and fly to the other. They should be respawned once you are ready to head back. There are also some fast respawns for some of the mobs, sometimes popping up the second you finish killing the previous mob.

If you don't have a navigation system with coordinates, get one. In the meantime you can find these two caves in the trenches North and Southeast of Halaa. They aren't marked with names on your map, but they are marked as cave openings.

Also consider collecting Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Samples to turn in for Halaa Research Tokens (if your faction controls Halaa). If you're level 80, most of the gear you can buy with them is pretty useless to you, but a nice 18 slot bag can be bought for just 8 of these. The vendor that sells this is Quartermaster Davian Vaclav for when alliance controls Halaa, and Quartermaster Jaffrey Noreliqe when horde does.

This grind also yields a truckload of netherweave cloth, sometimes 3 pieces per ogre. You're guaranteed to make a decent chunk of change from this on AH on top the money from vendoring all the greens you'll get as drops. This is overall a worthwhile rep grind. On top of that, you get a talbuk mount when exalted, which is the whole reason I'm doing this.

I'm not sure if this is a fluke or not, but mage and warrior boulderfist in the southwind cleft seemed to have a higher droprate than other ogres. When grinding in the burning blade ruins, it took me a full half hour to get only 6 beads, when in southwind cleft I got a stack of 10 within 10 minutes. The area also seems less populated than others.

Edit: The southwind cleft totalled to 29 in one half hour.

note that this item seems to have a hidden max in inventory limit of 50. Was killing ogres and wondering why i wasn't getting any drops. I looked in my inventory and found it curious that i was sitting on exactly 50. I killed about 50 boulderfist ogres and got no drops. Went and turned some in, as soon as i did they started dropping at their regular 33% rate

This rep group is a great source for the mount achievement(s). You will be able to buy 8 epic ground mounts total for Mag'har I'm sure, probably the same for alliance though too.

I started out as a lvl 66 DK, about 80% of the way through. I was at Honored. I farmed about 50 Warbeads in an hour and turned those in for Revered.

For Revered, I did the same thing, only on a MUCH larger scale.

By the end, I was almost lvl 68, and had earned over 150g! I also got the achievement for Got My Mind On My Money!

I found that Warbeads seemed to drop a lot faster at the Southwind Cleft than the Ruins or Northwind.

I took detailed notes on six occassions so that I could report drop rates here. All three locations are in Nagrand.

1. Laughing Skull Ruins:
-Killed 67 Ogres
-Looted 30 Obsidian Warbeads (44% drop rate)
-Looted 13 Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Samples (19% drop rate)
-Looted 56 Netherweave Cloth (84% drop rate)

2. Southwind Cleft:
-Killed 50 Ogres
-Looted 13 Obsidian Warbeads (26% drop rate)
-Looted 5O Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Samples (10% drop rate)
-Looted 39 Netherweave Cloth (78% drop rate)

3. Back to Laughing Skull Ruins:
-Killed 50 Ogres
-Looted 21 Obsidian Warbeads (42% drop rate)
-Looted 10 Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Samples (20% drop rate)
-Looted 40 Netherweave Cloth (80% drop rate)

4. Back to Southwind Cleft:

-Looted 30 Netherweave Cloth (51% drop rate)

Except for the last time I went to Laughing Skull Ruins, all other visits there yielded better drop rates for all three items compared to Southwind and Northwind Clefts. The Ogres drop other items, too, but I did not record them.

Alot of you will probably disagree with me here :P Just an observation I've made because I'm grinding rep with the Kurenai.

But I've noticed the ogres in Nagrand, up near the ring of blood at around 46,20 seem to have more obsidian warbeads than the ogres at Burning blade ruins 76,65. It's not because there may be more or less ogres in those areas, They just seem to drop alot less lol.

Just my opinion :P But I suppose it depends on the person farming them lol.

Well i didnt really mind to grind this rep but since im a DK 80Level and i got the DK Mount all along a talbuk would be nice :) Drop Rate is about 33-44%(Drops every 3 Kill,every 4 now and then) and about 25-50gold farm from killing the ogres(Since also drops cloths and uncommon items)

My Tactic as a Frost///UH Deathknight : Rush to points where major amount of agres are rush in with a HB and go on on about 10-15 ogres pop DnD and IT > Pestilence then HB and all of em dead :)

As Rogue : Use FoK Glyph rush in while pulling about 5 ogres shoot 1 FoK(about 10sec after pull) go on with about 20ogres and do a FoK Spamm with evsion on(only if 20ogres or more) try to run up and down to divide the ogres for eayest looting and use Intant pioson as Combat and Deadly(orly) as Assa

One of the easiest rep grinds in comaprison to wintespring or Sons of hodir

The best place, in my opinion, to farm these is in the Laughing Skull Ruins. It's very big, has a lot of ogres, and if you start at an end and work your way through to the other end, the ogres from the start has probably respawned. This means endless killing, which will be faster than if you have to wait for spawn inside the other places, which mostly are caves.

I found the best place to farm these is Southwind Cleft. The respawn rate is ridiculously high. Even 2-shotting them at 80, they still respawned fast enough for me to grind that one area enough beads to reach exalted with both Mag'har and Consortium. Drop rate is pretty decent, too. On higher populated servers, you'd probably have to move between the other cave, and possible other Ogre camps if someone else is in the area.

Recently i was farming more beads and wasn't getting any powder drops. I looted over 30 beads, but not a single powder. At the time, i had a stack of 100 powder in my bags. Im thinking that the powder stops dropping if you have a full stack in your possession, and because of this, the rate of bead drops is increased. Just a theory, need to get another stack of 100 powders to test this.

Right click on the NPC who you turn the warbeads into and press whatever button you have this bound to. This makes turning in any rep item a breeze. I suggest binding it to the mouse wheel for nearly instant turn ins.

I've just gone through the farming of those to get exalted with Kurenai. I figured that as a warlock, the quickest way to farm them is affliction specced. You can just run around and cast Corruption on every mob, and loot them when they all died. Also put your pet on passive. If your pet kills a mob before you have cast a spell on it, you won't be able to loot it.

Also worth noting, the mobs respawn FAST! Some of them respawn as soon as they hit the ground, as if there's a queue of mobs waiting to spawn. This can have funny results, like a field full of dead ogres: http://img692.imageshack.us/img692/9063/moarkills.jpg

I farmed in one specific spot because I rarely had competition. When I did it was only by those who had a quest that required them to go there. The place was "Northwind Cleft" at 40, 31.

It was the fastest spot I found to grind rep and get the obsidian warbeads, so I did a quick 10 minute study to show the results...

In 10 minutes I had:

- 63 kills
- 12 warbeads

(extras)

8.5 stacks of Netherweave Cloth
3 greens
21 Oshu'gun Crystal Powder Sample

The respawn rate was rediculously fast. I literally had them spawning on top of one another. I would kill everything outside, run inside the cave, kill everything in there and then rinse in repeat. Sometimes I would kill things too fast for them to respawn close to one another in which case I'd wait less than 30 seconds for them to respawn and be as less sparse.

Make sure you have empty bags for a long grind and loot every corpse so you can have a new mob appear, though I don't think it would hold it up for too long regardless.

To add my own personal numbers to the mix:

From 0/21,000, as a human, it took me 751 kills to get me to exalted. 751 kills put me at 8267/21,000 and by then I had just acquired enough Obsidian Warbeads fill me up the rest of the bar (13,200).

Damn that grind sucked. So glad I did it at 80 though. I recommend listening to dubstep to ease the pain of it.

Okay, when I started I had around 6000/12000 honored rep with the Mag'har. I killed enough Boulderfist ogres at the Southwind Cleft to get to revered (about 600) just off the ogre kill rep.

19% drop rate

What the heck? This is a far cry from the 44% listed up top and the 33% in the comments. Why does it vary so widely? All in all it was easy and didn't take long because they respawn so darn fast. I also got 14 stacks of netherweave, a handful of greens, a blue, and 52 Oshu'Gun powder samples.

My best advice is circling around the map for the ogres, massacre them all, and loot everything. Do Ring of Blood if you get bored and people are looking for help.

The highest drop rate, and most concentrated amount of ogres, in my opinion, is the entire Laughing Skull Ruins area. Made grinding beads for the Talbuk mount go by much faster than anywhere else. Navigated between there and the cave located at 39/31 on the map, and grinding the beads went nice and quick.

I did Friendly - Exalted on my 85 hunter (Guild level 21 for 10% more rep) over 3h 10m.

It took me 1520~ kills and 440 Obsidian Warbeads to do this. I found the best place to farm at Burning skull ruins were I spent the most of my time. I also went to Laughing Skull but didn't found the droprate as frequent. Maybe cause they were my last 50 warbeads :p

Anyways, I'm a mountoholic so I thought this was totally worth wasting a friday evening on, gl farmers !

Found a decent grind spot for these.

At southwind clef the ogre cave near Halaa.

High respawn makes it nice to circle in and out of the cave and constanly clearing mobs

I would like to say that purely from a lvl 85 perspective, you are probably one shotting these or close to it. IMO, the best spot to grind is Laughing Skull Ruins for the simple fact that the level difference between these mobs and a lvl 85 means most of your time is spent just navigating the terrain. Since Laughing Skull is out in the open, without alot of navigating and several mobs grouped together, it seems the best choice. Respawn timers also seem to be the same amongst all ogres roughly. The only downside is as a frost dk, I seemed to be killing them faster than a full group of mobs would respawn.

To turn these in for Kurenai rep, the repeatable quest turn-in is with Warden Moi'bff Jill Custode Moi'bff Jill, at 54,70 in Telaar. Others have said you need to be honored(?) with them to do the repeatable turn in, but i can't confirm that, as i was revered before i started handing in beads.

You get 600 Rep per turn in by being Human (Race) and by having the buff from your 25 level Guild.
260 more and less, is enough to complete Revered and Exalted.

Assuming you have are human, or have the guild reputation buff, at 0/12k honored--

At a 48%, rounded to 50%, takes 20 ogres for 10. 550 per turn in, 11 per kill. So, for a turn in plus the kills required, you get 781 rep. 33k/781=42.25)*20 To get to exalted, you need 42.25 turn ins, 845.07 ogre kills.
The last .07 kill of an ogre is the hardest, you just have to wound it then run away.

I recently farmed these beads to exhalted with Kurenai, the place I found best was indeed the cave at (40,32)

At this cave there are approximately 18 mobs inside and 10 outside, 2 of which walk in and out of the cave.

I found a loop that worked for me and stuck with it, I had no problems with respawns - they are very quick here.

I started at 9000/12000 rep after finishing all quests that gave rep. By the time I had gathered 200 beads I was 4 bars into revered just off killing mobs and after handing in I had 15 000/21 000 rep.

Using a feral druid I was averaging 35 beads every 15 minutes so this grind was not that bad in the end.

It took me around 280 beads to reach exhalted. NOTE: Each hand in was rewarding me with 550 Kurenai rep, NOT 500 and NOT 250.

Highly recommend this spot, hope this helps!

I don't know if this will help anyone, but here is a TomTom macro that I made to take me through a decent route of ogre-killing. At the 10th stop I clear the cave out, then go back to the start again.

10 Warbeads will get you about 700 rep (this includes the rep gained from killing the ogres and includes the guild bonus).

I found it a lot easier to gauge my progress with this. Having just completed Mag'har di Draenor, it took me 190 Warbeads to go from about 7000/21000 to exalted. This is from 550 rep per turn in, and 11 rep per mob kill (guild bonus).

Southwind Cleft is actually much closer and the drop rate seems to be high there. The Ogres spawn super fast too! Just make rounds in the cave and out of the cave and back in again and should be earning the beads nice and close to the quest giver!

Fantastic farming spot at the northwind cleft. This area has forced spawns, so killing one ogre causes another to spawn. Clear outside then inside the cave and repeat. I managed to grind out revered to exalted in about 45minutes using banners and the WHEE! buff during the grind and the turn-ins.

If you are going to farm at this area try asking in general if anybody else is farming beads. If you get someone else to divide and conquer (one in cave and one outside) you will probably have the mobs spawn faster than you can kill them.

I made a macro for calculating how many beads you'll need to grind for. It updates automatically based on incoming XP from ogres killed, and factors in beads already in your inventory.

It's also pastable in chat as lua to be run, it's just easier to have it on a keybind.

This is a long grind with lots of opening up your bag to check your current count of Amuleto di Guerra d'Ossidiana. To help myself through this grind I created a WeakAuras2 string which displays the current number of Amuleto di Guerra d'Ossidiana and provides (IMHO) hilarious audio alerts when you reach 100, 200 and 300 Amuleto di Guerra d'Ossidiana (as I only needed 300 to reach Exalted and receive Dove vai se il Kurenai non ce l'hai? when I created this). It is very simple to adjust these alerts to your own needs or to delete them entirely and keep only the visual aspect of the string.

I decided to code a Weakaura that caluclates and shows how many beads you need to farm till your next reputation level and exalted. I based it on @Smithfan's macro. I haven't tested it much and my coding is pretty bad, but I guess it gets the job done.

Do not waste your warbeads on the Consortium. Run the Mana Tombs on heroic. DO NOT kill the bosses(you can run around them.). Run out and reset the instance rinse and repeat until you are exalted. If you accidentally kill the bosses you can do the same with normal but it will take almost 3 times as long.

I have created an updated version of Gikona's WeakAura that makes a number of changes:

Works automatically for Horde or Alliance based on the player's faction
Takes into account DMF Top Hat or WHEE!, as well as Sign of the Twisting Nether (The Burning Crusade Timewalking rep bonus event)
Follows the recommended strat of killing until Revered and then turning in beads to Exalted
Only appears while in Nagrand

For Horde players, you can turn in Obsidian Warbeads to the NPC called Jorin Deadeye, who is located at Garadar in Nagrand, Outland. The coordinates for Garadar are approximately 55.8, 38.0. Jorin Deadeye should be located near the central area of the town.
