In a later post concerning Nolkai's Bag, someone asked how the elves died on the main island. I believe the evidence comes from quest dialog with the ghost of Prince Toreth <Dragon Riders of Loreth'Aran> at Wyrmscar. He explains:

Deathwing's brood... Ysera's benevolence raised the ire of Deathwing - patron of the black dragonflight. They attacked us in our sleep! Many died on the initial surge but the greens rose to protect us.
<Prince Toreth points around the island.>
The bones are all that remains of the once great dragons. None were spared

Given that Wyrmscar is directly across from the anchient ruins (E, NE) on Bloodmyst, I'd say it's likely the two come from the same era. As a society based on dragons, loosing thier dragons and likely thier greatest weapon/defence, the main land elves were easy pickins. It would also explain the level of devistation at the Bloodmyst ruins; later to be occupied by the Naga.
