Note that the "bug" described on Thottbot still exists: You can stand out of LOS from a same-faction NPC and blast this candle at them without using a charge and with no cooldown.

You can definitely grab some attention in town with this thing. :)

I went back to the guy who sells this a second time, with 5 more ancestor coins, and he sold me a second Elune's Candle for 10 silver, letting me spend the ancestor coins on something else!

I used this on someone from the opposite faction, and to my surprise my Horn of Argent Fury hit him for ~1k damage. The guards did not attack me for it, though, as shooting the fireworks doesn't count as a hostile action. I'd imagine this works with other 'chance on hit' effects as well.

EDIT: I did some research. The Horn of Argent Fury is rather unique in the way it works, and I have yet to find something that works similarly. You won't be able to proc mongoose using this, for example... I did manage to kill a lvl 20 druid.

lunar festival is a reference to the chinese beliefs of Lunar New year when the chinese new year starts off at late jan, early feb.

the amount of charges being 88 is based on the fact that during the chinese festive period, the number 8 is being regarded as very lucky and prosperous.

An interesting effect I discovered today; you can shoot these at Scourge Haunts (summoned by the Haunted Memento which was only dropped during the Scourge Invasion event). While the Haunts are normally untargettable; if you don't have another target selected, you can use Elune's Candle, mouse over the Haunt, and then shoot a firework at it.

1) Pop MOLL-E (There's no mailbox in Moonglade)
2) Buy Elune's Candle (unique)
3) Mail Elune's Candle to (bank) alt
4) Repeat Step 2 & 3
5) Wait some time after Lunar Festival is over ...
6) PROFIT !

i do like how it appears as a weapon in my client (minus the slot it fits to) vs what wowhead shows

add to that, that when i got my mage restored (hence, no gear) i had to repair this damn thing before using it o.o

If you're wondering at why there's 88 charges, it's a nod towards Chinese culture (my culture!) where "88" is considered a lucky number since it's a homophone with "Overwhelming Cash".

Shows as having one charge in the vendor window, but does in fact still have 88 charges once bought, like previous years.

Testing shows this to have a less than 30 yard range, greater than 20 yard range and skewed more towards the 30. I use "26" for range testing purposes.

As usual when trying to work around the deliberate lack of range measuring in WoW, your mileage will vary depending upon combat status, location, faction of the target and so on. But when it does return a good result then manual measurement for me gives 26 yards.
