There are four recolours of each ToV armour set. The normal mode variant is the reward for Prova del Valore: L'armata perduta, while the other three colour variants are dropped from bosses in LFR, heroic, and mythic modes.

Prova del Valore: L'armata perduta can be completed on any difficulty.

LFR variant: Rare drop from any boss in LFR difficulty. (pale blue)
Normal variant: Quest reward. (rust/bronze)
Heroic variant: Rare drop from any boss in Heroic difficulty. (grey/burgundy)
Mythic variant: Rare drop from any boss in Mythic difficulty. (gold)

Also note that individual armour pieces, of course, can also be collected as boss drops. The colour will correspond to the difficulty. However, shoulders and helmets can only be obtained through the Ensembles; they do not drop from bosses.

Not sure how come nobody has said this for so long, but this is obtainable if you complete the achievement from Trial of Valor, and which can still be completed (and is reasonably easier than at its release) as of the time of writing.

I was not one of those, who completed this during Legion. Now I know I won't get the title, completly fair. But is the armor set still available to obtain? I would like to look glorious, in that golden plated armor! It's a good looking set after all!

Just completed Mythic 3/3 with no deaths, NO ensemble dropped of Mythic Variant, we had LFR and Heroic versions drop for the group though

EDIT: For those downvoting, I was trying to highlight that this full set it no longer attainable, some pieces are boss drops

This ensemble was to be obtained via "The Chosen" achievement which requires Mythic Trial Of Valor kills with no deaths before the 7.2.5 or Battle of Azeroth. So, neither the achievement which also would give you title as "the Chosen" nor the mythic ensemble set cannot be obtained today.

However, except the helm and shoulder, rest of the parts can still be obtained piece by piece from Odyn, Guarm and Helya. Helm and shoulder were exquisite for the ensemble and no longer to be obtained. But, for those who's enthusiastic about this golden set, try paladin tier 16 helm and shoulder as normal chroma version which is Winged Truth set. Both pieces are plate-wide, so you can go to Siege Of Orgrimmar with a plate character to obtain the helm and shoulder after you manage to get the golden pieces from Mythic TOV.

It looks way more better than the original ensemble. With the winged truth shoulder and helm along with the golden pieces, you'll become some sort of angelic centurion with a winged crusader attitude.

There's various comments on how you can obtain the Prova del Valore sets but I still read a lot of comments about people confused on how these drop so I figured I'd post an updated guide on how to collect them.

Raid Finder Ensembles

The following sets can be obtained on any difficulties and from any bosses. This means you can have up to 12 attempts per week per character if you clear the raid on LFR, Normal, Heroic and Mythic. They all have a low drop chance.

Leather set for Ladro, Monaco, Druido and Cacciatore di Demoni: Set: Abiti del Defunto Prescelto
Cloth set for Sacerdote, Mago and Stregone: Set: Paramenti del Defunto Prescelto

Normal Ensembles

The following sets can be obtained by completing Prova del Valore: L'armata perduta. You can loot the majority of the Frammento d'Anima Valarjars from Guarm and Helya within the raid and in very small amounts from the Missioni Mondiali degli Helarjar. You can loot the fragments from the raid once per difficulty, per week.

Mythic Ensembles

The following sets are no longer available. They were rewarded from completing Prescelto. You would get this Feat of Strength from defeating all three bosses on Mythic difficulty without dying. The lucky players were also rewarded with title, also no longer available.

Additional information/tips

You can queue in solo/group for LFR ToV by talking to Arcimago Timear in Dalaran.
You can only loot the sets appropriate for your class, meaning that a mage wouldn't be able to loot the plate set, and a warrior wouldn't be able to loot the cloth set.
The ensembles are not shown in the Sets tab of the Collection interface unless you actually own them.
You can collect individual pieces for each sets from the bosses as regular loot in any difficulties (including Mythic) but the helms, shoulders, and cloaks can only be obtained through the ensembles (you can loot some cloaks but they aren't technically part of the actual ensembles).
The ensembles can be used by your other characters for transmog, as long as they're appropriate for their class.
