Cool mount for death knights they can ride in combat. Great for doing quests as you do not have to mount up after ending combat.

Beta info as of 6/13/16

Tier 2 research option. Once completed there is a lootable item next to the Dalaran portal in Acherus. Once looted, you get an unlimited use item that lasts for 60 minutes in your inventory. The timer stops when you are offline.

While mounted:
You can mine
You can skin
You can NOT herb (bug?)
You can NOT eat to restore hp (unfortunate)
You can loot/interact with quest/world items (awesome)
You can use glider, hearthstone, death gate, use artifact power cast-time items (normally dismount you)
You can be dazed, but it doesn’t dismount you
You still get dismounted in no-mount zones

It's actually quite great for doing 1 hour of World Quests or mining farming.

Upon completing research for Cavaliere dell'Apocalisse Oscuro, DKs can receive one of these per day from a hitching post near the portal to Dalaran from Acherus.

The Reins last for up to 1 hour after you add them to your inventory. The Reins are reusable during this time. You will not be automatically dismounted if you are riding it when the timer runs out.
Prior to completing the Campaign, the horse summoned by the Reins resembles an Acherus Deathcharger, the black-armored, blue-hooved horse that all DKs get; following the Campaign, the mount will instead randomly select one of the Four Horsemens' mounts each time it is summoned. Don't expect it to fly any time soon.
You will not be dismounted if you are Dazed while riding the Deathcharger summoned by this effect. You may attack, cast spells, craft profession items or gather from nodes without dismounting. However, you will be dismounted if you step indoors, and you cannot mount it if you are already in combat.
You can't summon the Deathcharger outside the Broken Isles mainland, not even in Acherus... but you can mount in the Broken Isles and then teleport to Acherus without dismounting.
The hitching post is basically a chest that can only be looted once per day (so don't delete the Reins, cuz you can't loot it again today!).

Currently the random mount it summons (upon completion of the order hall campaign) isn't color accurate to the horseman it claims to belong to.

I kept getting this and then forgetting to use it, so I made a mount macro that uses this mount when available and a random favorite mount if not. It also summons the random favorite mount if you're hitting a modifier key (shift, control). The first line can be replaced with a different mount (or removed entirely if desired), as it just exists to show whether you're in a mountable location.

I may have found a way to cheese the system a bit. If, like me, your DK is not your main or life is too busy for you to play for the full hour of this buff you may be able to gather a collection of the reins for use at a later date. What I did was (after completing the research);

- I collected my daily reins from the hitching post to the right of the landing pad that your Death Gate ports you too, but did not use them and I logged out.
- The next day I logged back in and attempted to loot another set which the system informed me that I already had in my bags I exited the hitching post and took the portal to Dal. At this point the system will mail you the reins that you attempted to loot but could not pick up.
You should be able to do this each day and have a collection of them in the mail waiting for you when you need them. I have been able to do a similar thing with my Demon Hunter and the daily boss that drops self buffs that stack to 5, after that any more buffs that I attempt to loot from the daily boss will go to my mail.

Edit: After some testing you can indeed stock these up in your mailbox. As the hitching post despawns once you click it if you do not loot the reins they will go to your mailbox once you zone out.

As of 7.1.5 when you summon nazgrim's deathcharger it's actually blue, and Mograine's which is now red.
It used to be the opposite, but is now correct. You can see them sitting on their mounts in Acherus if they aren't out on missions.

If you are currently mounted on one of these Ebon Blade Deathchargers, clicking to mount up on something else (like a flying mount) will give you the cast bar, but then tell you "a more powerful spell is already active". You are then left still mounted on your Deathcharger, having to first click off the Deathcharger aura (which is different for each of the 4 mounts) and then click on the other mount. After looking around and then experimenting a bit, I have come up with this macro. When you have the reins in your bag, you can click on it to mount the Deathcharger. If you hold down a modifier key, like shift or ctrl, it will mount you up on whatever is in the 3rd line without having to click the aura off first. Instead of my Vanquisher you could substitute a line that just mounts you on a random flying mount, for example.

There seems to be a bug that if you are on Unholy your pet would be put on automatic passive since you're technically mounted. Sucks since I wanted to farm some world quests.
