Perhaps a new fishing mount? Would be nice if this one was obtained through fishing, rather than paying 10-20k gold. Would give Anglers (who own the turtle/s) a new challenge.

04.05.2016 EDIT: Seems the tooltip has been filled to state that this item is in fact supposed to be a drop (might be subject to change). It drops off of Kosumoth the Hungering (an NPC which is not yet added in the database).

"Drops from Kosumoth the Hungering." I am assuming that is a World Boss (rare drop), a rare boss mob (drops for everyone, Poundfist style), a rare spawn (drops for one, TLPD style), or a dungeon or raid boss (1% drop rate).

The mount doesnt seem to drop 100%, we killed it with a group of 15 and none got the mount. It may be a very rare drop.

EDIT 7th Sep: Read post by Blackfaded or Eipril. The boss is summoned using a particular method of activating orbs in the correct order, and the mount and pet rewards seem to be based on a weekly quest.

Information:

Kosumoth the Hungering is located in the center of the physical Eye of Azshara island in the south of the Broken Isles (NOT the dungeon version).

Kosumoth has 83.42M health baseline and requires a group to defeat. His health increases/scales up with more than 5 people. He has 3 main abilities; Shadow Bolt Volley, Gluttonous Shadows and Void Fissures as well as melee attacking:

Shadow Bolt Volley is the most deadly. It is a 2 second cast that that deals around 10M damage to all enemies (eg: wipe damage) so NEEDS to be interrupted. It seems to be cast every 8 seconds so a rotation of two interrupters should be fine.
Gluttonous Shadows is a 15 yard radius AoE around Kosumoth that deals a large amount of shadow damage to anyone stood in the area and may also heal him(?). This damage isn't deadly, however the cast can be interrupted so if you have spare interrupters they should interrupt this. The spell has a 2.5 second cast and seems to be cast randomly every 15-25 seconds.
Void Fissures is a 1.5 second cast that summons 8 small adds. These adds have low health and don't really seem do much except melee-attack, so should simply be quickly AoE'd down. This ability seems to be cast every 15 seconds or so.
Apart from his main 3 abilities he also melees at a slow and unsteady pace. This damage however isn't significant and any healer should have no issue keeping the tank alive.

Seems to be a 5 minute respawn timer. Mount and pet definitely seem to be a very low drop rate. There are currently about 100 horde on my server killing it constantly right now and no one has gotten the mount or pet yet. It has already been killed multiple times.

Edit: The mount and pet do not just drop from this mob. There is a world quest that is involved with getting them.

Talk to Drak'Thul, get your Weathered Relic, talk to Drak'Thul again, and then just follow the path: Blackfaded comment.
If you stuck at some point and an orb is unclickable - just wait, it'll become active again. I got stuck at step 7 and 9, but after a few minutes I was able to progress further.
So, after final 10th orb, the World Quest popped, I went to Eye of Azshara, killed Kosumoth and got my mount.

Mount is a reward for the world quest! But to get it you need to do this:

1) Goto the Broken Shores and found there NPC Drak'thul coords 37 71, talk to him and he will say us to go away.

2) Go to 58 54, there is a cave with the green torch outside, go in and try to find a pile of dirt at the end of cave, pickup loot (relic) and go back (if enterence is closed by rocks, try to relog)

3) Talk to Drak'thul again, while he say as to go away again (several times! Be sure he don't want to tell you anything else). You can see red orb on his table and tiny rocks. Rocks are the spots of other spheres located somewhere on the Broken Islands

4) Go to find orbs in a particular order (we were trying to find them HERE)

~~If you cant click the sphere I suppose it is on cooldown, try to realmhop or wait~~ After recent hotfix there shouldnt be any CD on spheres.

1. 37.82 37.5 Cave in Azsuna with foxes outside (jump in bushes under the tree)
2. 33.14 76.31 Stormheim (mob can oneshot)
3. 41.5 80.75 Val'sharah (mob beats very hard)
4. 30.01 78.69 Broken Shore, in cave deep under the water
5. 59.26 13.01 Crystal cave in Azsuna
6. 67.49 14.67 (world map coords) Stormheim, under the drowned statue, under the big shark mob (geyser can kill you)
7. 55.9 38.71 Highmountain How to find
8. 53.93 26.39 Cave in Azsuna, under the rock
9. 78.33 89.64 Drowned ship in Eye of Azshara (not instance!)

5) After you do it all, go back to Drak'thul and use orb on his table, he will thank us for help.

Check your map now, in Eye of Azshara (not instance) will apear a world quest!

This summons Kosumoth il Famelico!

Go to Drak'thul at 37, 71 on Broken Shore Map and talk to him. Then go to cave at 57,52 on the broken shore and click the mud at the end of the cave to get the Reliquia Logora you need. Then go to Drak'thul at 37, 71 on Broken Shore Map again and give him the relict and talk to him several times until he wants to leave him alone. After that click all the orbs in the right order!

Clickable order:
1. 38, 37 Cave Aszuna
2. 32,75 Stormheim
3. 41, 80 Val'sharah
4. 32, 72 on Broken Shore Map
5. 59, 13 Cave Aszuna
6. 67, 14 on World Map, under the neutral shark is the cave entrance
7. 56, 38 Highmountain
8. 53, 26 Cave Aszuna
9. 49, 90 on World Map in the sunken ship
10. 37, 71 on Broken Shore Map

This will summon the Boss and give you a Worldquest to obtain the Abitante delle Profondità mount or the Tentacolo Famelico pet! I think it changes weekly.
After clicking the last orb a region wide message appears:

Azeroth itself recoils as <name> unleashes an ancient evil.
Kosumoth the Hungering walks the land once more...

Looks like Orb #6 is going to be the sticking point. Every single server on EU has at least 5-6 people standing on top of it, as well as a mountain of corpses and skeletons. Even if the orb is active, it's impossible to click thanks to the corpses.

I clicked on the 6º orb at the same time witha another players and the orb didnt blink purple like always. (me, well gonna server spawn and got another one, well i cant do it i server hope to a server without people and i saw another orb and i cant clicked it, one guy come and clicked ). The orbs appear to have a 50 minute "recharge" time. Meaning if someone just clicked it, it will be clickable again in 50 minutes.

For those without coördinates, here are links to spots on the map you'll need, so you'll know which flight path to take. For more detail check other comments.

Drak' Thul & The cave (drak'thul being on the beach)

Orb 1 (43730): Azuna cave (jump in the brush behind the 3 foxes)
Orb 2 (43731): Stormheim (cave behind a tree, next to the road)
Orb 3 (43732): Val'Sharah (cave in the tree/brush next to u-turn in the road going uphill)
Orb 4 (43733): Broken Shore cave (you have to swim into fatigue area, it's below the edges of the rocks)
Orb 5 (43734): Azuna cave2 (cave between the crystals and behind a tree)
Orb 6 (43735): North of Stormheim (cave underneath the shark, at the sunken statue)
Orb 7 (43736): Highmountain (make sure you go to the harpy area, follow the 'road' towards the sea, and jump down)
Orb 8 (43737): Azuna cave3 (between a rock and a tree, underneath from brushes)
Orb 9 (43760): South of Broken Shore Eye of azshara (the island) (swim inside the sunken boat)

Orb 10 (43761): And back to Drak'Thul.
Your world quest should appear now in Eye of Azshara (not the dungeon!)

Here's how to check if you actually managed to "out-click" everybody.

Behind the scenes, this works as a simple quest prerequisites tracker.

In the order of each orb, as mentioned in other comments:

This item is a world quest reward (PERICOLO: Kosumoth il Famelico) but you have to attune your character in order to receive these. Just killing Kosumoth il Famelico will not drop anything.

In short, you need to find orbs in the world and activate them in a specific order. Each orb has a 50 min respawn timer, and can only be used by one person each spawn. I copied the bit from the news article regarding the coordinates for each orb:

Go to 37.9, 37.5 in Azsuna and enter the cave at the base of the tree.
Go to 63.7, 36.2 in Suramar and take the path up the cliff right before reaching Stormheim. Turn right on the path, head up the cliff towards Stormheim, make a small drop off the rock to the tree on the side of the cliff. Enter the cave at 32.9, 75.8 and beware of the mob inside.
Go to Lorlathil in Val'sharah, take the road west to Thas'talah and head south towards the cliff, enter the cave at the base of the tree at 41, 81. The mob inside casts a high damage spell, beware!
Go to 31.3, 76.9 in the Broken Shore, swim down into the fatigue water and into the cave.
Go to 59.3, 12.9 in Azsuna, entering the cave at the base of a tree in the purple rift on the map.
Go to 67, 15 on the Broken Isles map (near the island northeast of Stormheim), entering the cave located under the shark. This orb will have people from multiple realms.
Go to 55.8, 38.6 in Highmountain. You will need to drop down off the cliff a short distance to reach this cave, which is another hidden by some bushes.
Go to 54.1, 26.3 in Azsuna, entering the cave at the base of a tree. The orb is towards the back of the cave under a bush.
Head to 79, 89.0 in Eye of Azshara and swim down to the sunken ship. Inside of it you will find a cave. This orb will have people from multiple realms.
Head back to where it all started, our good friend Drak'thul. The last orb is on his table.

I made this macro for you to use and easily see what orb you have to loot:

Ever since their guide came out 10x more people at orb 6 and 9. So bad that Blizzard has to fix CRZ in those areas.

My advice, don't even bother with this garbage until CRZ fix comes in or orbs are permanently clickable.

Upon clicking the final orb, the quest didn't immediately appear on the world map for me, causing me to panic. However, upon hearthing back to Dalaran the world quest and reward now show in the correct place.

confirmed info from my successful attempt:

- you can be in raid and click the orbs.
- you don't have to do it in one log in, your progress is saved if you log out.
- re-spawn time is exactly 50 minutes.

I don't currently know whether the progress is saved through the Wednesday reset, if I have this info I'll update this comment.

- camp for orb 6 is bad.
- camp for orb 9 IS REALLY BAD! (say in Jeremy Clarkson's voice: some people say it might get hotfixed)

Just obtained the mount after the horrible camp in 6th orb whithout a hotfix.
In the 9th orb i was lucky only was 3 players there and obatined it when it was respawned.

Can confirm orbs are now hotfixed on the EU servers and are clickable by all, just got the World Quest show up immediately after I did them.

This unlocks a world quest chain that gives you the mount and pet depending on which world quest you receive. This post is similar to the MMO champ one but with a few more key details to help you breeze through this.

1) Glide from Dalaran to the Broken Shore (go around the coast as the NPC is accessible from the water) and talk to Drak'thul (37,71) until he tells you to go away.
2) Go into the Broken shore to 58,54 into a cave and look for some dirt on the ground (its in the back and hard to see).*the cave has a green torch out front of it*
3) Go back to Drak'thul and talk to him until there is no more dialogue options. *the map on the table has the vague locations for the orbs*
4) Go find the orbs listed below IN THIS ORDER

Go to 37.9, 37.5 in Azsuna and enter the cave at the base of the tree.

Go to 63.7, 36.2 in Suramar and take the path up the cliff right before reaching Stormheim. Turn right on the path, head up the cliff towards Stormheim, make a small drop off the rock to the tree on the side of the cliff. Enter the cave at 32.9, 75.8 and beware of the mob inside. *This ghost can be cc'd and shackled*

Go to Lorlathil in Val'sharah, take the road west to Thas'talah and head south towards the cliff, enter the cave at the base of the tree at 41, 81. The mob inside casts a high damage spell, beware! *Some classes may need to bring another person to help them, the mob has low hp and can be killed with more than 1 person but does loads of dmg*

Go to 31.3, 76.9 in the Broken Shore, swim down into the fatigue water and into the cave. *The cave is halfway down into the crevice not at the very bottom*

Go to 59.3, 12.9 in Azsuna, entering the cave at the base of a tree in the purple rift on the map.

Go to 67, 15 on the Broken Isles map (near the island northeast of Stormheim), entering the cave located under the shark. *Use cords for the Broken Isles map NOT Stormheim itself*

Go to 55.8, 38.6 in Highmountain. You will need to drop down off the cliff a short distance to reach this cave, which is another hidden by some bushes. *There are two caves here, one is an obvious empty cave and the hidden one is right outside of it to the right. Orb is under the skull*

Go to 54.1, 26.3 in Azsuna, entering the cave at the base of a tree. The orb is towards the back of the cave under a bush. *Next tree after you hit a blue lamp post, if you hit the sleeping foxes you've gone too far.*

Head to 79, 89.0 in Eye of Azshara and swim down to the sunken ship. Swim up through the cracks in the ship to a cave. *Orb is behind a waterfall on the right.*

Back to Drak'thul and the last orb is on the table.

The Orb in Eye of Azshara is still not reachable for Tauren unless you get ressed to the other side of the hole...
Pretty dumb imo to make something unreachable for certain races, i mean height problems are not unusual for what? almost like 12 years now. And blizz didn't even thought about the hole being to small for tauren...

After you have gotten all the orbs, if you can not see the world quest for a mount or companion just relog. That fixed it for me (when I took the last orb world quest did not appear on my map). I just got this mount from the world quest in EU.

The world quest appeared when I changed zone after clicking on the orb at Drek'thul's camp.

It had a 10 day remaining tag on it. I would assume that it thus has a 14 day timer, starting on raid reset day (Wednesday for EU). Therefore I would expect the other world quest (the one that the US currently gets to obtain a pet) to appear on Wednesday, 28 September in EU and the mount will probably become available on Tuesday 27 September in the US.

For your information - this goes at 108% speed. Which is the same as Tartaruga di Mare, Tartaruga Cavalcabile & Redini di Poseidus

To further add to this, this unfortunately makes it inferior (in utility) to the sea turtles as you are unable to jump out of the water without being dismounted.

If your having trouble getting past the nasty, nasty elite guarding the third orb:

This works FOR ALL CLASSES: Simply run in and die near the orb. After running back, place yourself right on top of it before rezzing. After you rez IMMEDIATELY click the orb. You should have just enough time to click it without being interrupted before he decimates your face again. Rez and be on your merry way.

How to get the World Quest for Kosumoth that will reward World Quests in Eye of Ashara resulting in the Fathom Dweller Mount and Hungering Claw Battle Pet.

This is my guide on how to get the Fathom Dweller Mount. This is a step by step guide. TomTom is needed for this guide so head over to curse.com and pick up that addon. After completing this you will now get World Quest for DANGER: Kosumoth the Hungering, it will award 2 things one week it awards a pet or mount then the other in two weeks.

Go to Drak'thul at 37, 71 in the Broken Shore Map and talk to him. Now head to cave at 57,52 in the broken shore and look for the mud pile at the end of the cave to get, click on it and receive the Weathered Relic, it adds an item to your bags. Head back to Drak'thul at 37, 71 on Broken Shore Map again and talk to him several times until he wants to leave him alone or go away. Now its time to go around the world and click orbs in the right order.

Below is a the TOMTOM coordinates for each orb, each one is in my video with specifics.

Now you must log out or change zones for the World Quest to appear. This will summon the Boss aka Kosumoth the Hungering in open world Eye of Ashara and give you a World Quest to obtain the Fathom Dweller mount or the Hungering Claw pet! It changes either weekly or bi weekly.

If you are a cow and can't get through the ship part, get a friend on the other side on a 2 person mount. Ghosting won't work, your ghost is also too big to fit.

I don't get it. Did everything in order. Went back to Drak'thul for the last orb on his table. He said "I thank you for ceasing..." blah blah and then nothing. No world quest on my map like you had. I don't get it.......

Edit: Nevermind. I got summoned to a dungeon, checked my map and it was there. Weird.

Last orb didnt work for me as a tauren, not with any size altering toys or consumables.... EDIT: Get your Cushion toy out and it will help!

I found an easier way to get to the Musty Cave than using Gliders or running past massive infernals and hoping for no aggro.

At 60:57 on the actual shoreline of Broken Shore, there's a tiny inlet (rowboat-sized) that slopes straight north up into a ramp. Go about halfway up, and you should be able to see an overhang or tunnel-like entrance to the left (see screenshots, hopefully). Scramble over those rocks - there is a way over them - and the Musty Cave will be only a short distance further along on your left, with no NPCs between you and it at any point.

HOW TO

Initial Steps

Talk to Drak'thul out on the Broken Shore until he has no more dialogue options for you to choose from.
Head to the cave at 58, 54 on the Broken Isles, die and resurrect if needed to get past the rocks, go to the very back, click the Mound of Dirt to loot the Weathered Relic.
The mound is hard to see, so look carefully.
Return to Drak'thul and talk to him again until he has no more dialogue options for you to choose from. This requires opening and closing the dialogue window.

Orb Notes

Next you will need to click on ten different orbs, in order. Each has a 50 minute respawn time per realm.
You can use this macro to check if you got credit for an orb: /dump IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(QuestID)
The Quest ID for each orb is listed in parenthesis in the steps below.
Orb 6 and 9 are bottlenecks, as they are located in a place where players from multiple realms appear.
Changing zones, waiting, or logging in and out will cause the PERICOLO: Kosumoth il Famelico quest to appear, rewarding you with Tentacolo Famelico or Abitante delle Profondità, depending on what is up for your region this week.
You will only have to do the Orbs once! (Source)

Orb Collection

The orbs must be clicked in order.
Orb 1 (Flag A) - Go to 37.9, 37.5 in Azsuna and enter the cave at the base of the tree.
Orb 2 (Flag B) - Go to 63.7, 36.2 in Suramar and take the path up the cliff right before reaching Stormheim. Turn right on the path, head up the cliff towards Stormheim, make a small drop off the rock to the tree on the side of the cliff. Enter the cave at 32.9, 75.8 and beware of the mob inside.
Orb 3 (Flag C) - Go to Lorlathil in Val'sharah, take the road west to Thas'talah and head south towards the cliff, enter the cave at the base of the tree at 41, 81. The mob inside casts a high damage spell, beware!
Orb 4 (Flag D) - Go to 31.3, 76.9 in the Broken Shore, swim down into the fatigue water and into the cave.
Orb 5 (Flag E) - Go to 59.3, 12.9 in Azsuna, entering the cave at the base of a tree in the purple rift on the map.
Orb 6 (Flag F) - Go to 67, 15 on the Broken Isles map (near the island northeast of Stormheim), entering the cave located under the shark. This orb will have people from multiple realms.
Orb 7 (Flag G) - Go to 55.8, 38.6 in Highmountain. You will need to drop down off the cliff a short distance to reach this cave, which is another hidden by some bushes.
Orb 8 (Flag H) - Go to 54.1, 26.3 in Azsuna, entering the cave at the base of a tree. The orb is towards the back of the cave under a bush.
Orb 9 (Flag I) - Head to 79, 89.0 in Eye of Azshara and swim down to the sunken ship. Inside of it you will find a cave. This orb will have people from multiple realms.
Orb 10 (Flag J) - Head back to where it all started, our good friend Drak'thul. The last orb is on his table.

Underwater breathing potions are your friend. Especially for the cave inside the sunken ship in the Eye of Azshara. You must swim inside the ship, up and around several levels and back to get to the cave entrance.

Just posting to say with flying this mount is a lot faster to get. Glad I waited out on doing certain things in-game to I had flying. HOWEVER! >When I went there to do the boss, 90 million bad boy, nobody was there to help me, so had to solo him...Guardian druid np, but as feral I got RIP'd, so ppl who are non-tanks now a days doing this...get a friend to help you in advance or w/e

An active invasion will conflict with the WQ. I completed all prerequisites but it wouldn't show up for me. After the invasion ended the WQ did show up. I opened a ticket and a GM confirmed this. So, if you've done everything and the quest will still not show, wait for the invasion to pass if there is one active.

I had problems with Zidane3838s paste, so I made changes to it - here it is.
TomTom didn't understand half the lines and it was in reverse.
This works for me and they show up in correct order.

So a helpful tip for anyone thinking they can do this in a group. You can't... I talked to Drak, but when it came to clicking Orbs only my party mate could and I could not. At the end only the party mate had the WQ open, I now have to do the whole thing over again. /ThanksBlizz

Some of the comments are a little ambiguous, in terms of what to do if all you get is Drak'thul telling you to "Go away". This means you've already talked to him. Just go to the cave at 58,54, get the Weathered Relic, then come back and he'll talk to you. I must have talked to him some other time and forgot about it, couldn't figure out why he wouldn't interact with me now, months later :)

Be aware, for Orb 6, under the shark, don't confuse the world map coordinates, (67,15), for the same coordinates on the Stormheim map. Blizz is tricky, they put another Toothless Great White at the same coordinates in Stormheim, that is NOT the correct one. Open your map, wider to Broken Isles, them move your cursor to the northwest side of the island that is just off to the right and north of Stormheim. You'll find that shark under a partially submerged statue.

It is amazing how may players take the time to write pages of comments/guides but then leave out so many crucial details that make the guides, which they spent all that time preparing, almost useless.

For example, how exactly do you swim down to the underwater cave in Broken Shore with Fatigue building up ? And how deep is the cave just to make a plan? Can you get to it and to the Orb without Fatigue getting you first? Even if you then have to die?

Going out to the edge of the map where Fatigue starts and swimming down for 2 minutes is NOT your regular WOW player's daily chore. So you'd think that the authors of these almost useless guides would have added a little note "by the way this is how to do it".

I understand not bothering to leave any comments, but once you go into the trouble of logging on and compiling a detailed guide with coordinates you 'd think you'd have the modicum of intelligence to add a few notes here and there. Like for example "100 million HP mob that hits like a truck inside cave" would be a great warning. Luckily it was an Undead and my DK could control it.

And as another poster here has mentioned, how are you meant to find these locations or the order that the Orbs need to be activated?

If I ever bother/manage to do this series of quests on a toon other than my Druid I'd be sure to leave a constructive comment with locations and howtos.

So, this quest did not show up this week, so I was perplexed, I thought it was supposed to show up every week at the reset. As such, I opened a ticket:

I have done all of the attunement requirements for getting the world quest "DANGER: Kosumoth the Hungering", and I did this quest the last two weeks. This week, however, I went to the location, Kosumoth is there, but there is no world quest. The only thing that should keep it from showing up, is if there is a current invasion going on somewhere in the Broken Isles. There is no invasion going on. Please look into what parameter exists that is not allowing the world quest to show up.

Game Master ( ) here, at your service. Just wanted to drop by and talk a little about Kosumoth's World quest. It works a little differently than most quests.

Unlike most quests Kosumoth's world quest resets every 2 weeks. Currently the quest is still for the pet and in the next week the quest will be available for you again. I know this isn't the best news and I still unsure why this was set as a two week rotation, but that would be why Dillybar cannot currently get any rewards again.

Hopefully in the next week the mount spawns as the reward so you don't have to wait much longer for it! From here, have a good rest of the day! If there is anything more that you may need help with in the future, please feel free to contact us again. I do wish you luck and take care.

Hopefully this clears up any confusion people may be having about the quest. I'm not completely positive the game master is correct about the two week reset, some in my guild say that's wrong, but, we'll see in the coming weeks.

As of TODAY 02/01/18, the world quest only dropped the companion, no mount for me. I was pretty disappointed. Maybe in future the world quest will drop the mount?

If you are having trouble with finding the pile of dirt in step 2, at Open up your in-game video settings and move the slider for gamma settings to high. This makes it much easier to spot the interactable pile of dirt.

I dunno what I'm doing wrong. I have the world quest for like 5 months and always getting the Hungering Claw companion. Am I just so unlucky, or is there some mistake that I do? Like, I know that it has 14 day respawn rate (the quest) so I check it only like 3 times inside each respawn cycle. Any advice (like the reward changes each day) or am I just unlucky?

Can confirm it's 'working as intended'. The WQ immediately appeared after finishing the scavenger hunt for all the orbs. The first drop I got was the pet. Two weeks later the WQ reappeared and I got the mount.

As of patch 8.1, the The Hivemind puzzle has been solved. Mente Alveare is a flying mount and is the same model as the Abitante delle Profondità. Differences are that it is not armored and the top part is represented as a brain :)

If anyone else is having a very difficult time finding the orb in the crystal cave: it's in the iron ball-tingy on the ground. The exact cords are 60.13, 14.60.
When in the cave, head for the chests and you will find the orb next to them!

If you're reading this please do your part and submit a bug report.

There's a 1 in 256 chance of legitimately getting the pet 8 resets in a row if its a 50/50 split. Last reset there was a 1 in 128 chance. For each reset you can divide by half and see that for 3-4 resets in a row we've gotten the pet instead of the mount against overwhelming odds.

I have no problem believing a 1 in 256 chance could occur. I get a lot of suspicion if a 1 in 256 chance occurs the reset after a 1 in 128 chance did occur which came right after a reset where a 1 in 64 chance did occur. The probability for those 3 events happening sequentially is .000000336%. That's about 10x lower than the probability we'll be struck by an unseen meteor the size of Alaska today Aka it's impossible. Blizz has messed with something and not communicated it

If this is legitimate, then a 1 in 256 chance is .003% chance. That's well under half what even the lowest drop rate mount is. So here's where you finally got your rare drop. 8 weeks in a row of the pet is your rare drop

So based on readings, it was at least 7 (possibly 8) cycles in a row on 11/17's reset. As of 12/29/20, that's 10 in a row now, so we're at 1:1024 chance, or roughly .1%.

So, theoretically, it is possible that this mount never shows again...but the odds quickly reach the absurd since they double every 2 weeks (~1:1,000,000 if it doesn't show by mid-May) . Here's hoping this doesn't turn into a lottery-type situation.

(The math in the comment below about a .00003% chance or whatever is a bit wonky so I would recommend against trusting that)

I have completed this quest for the WQ for Fathom Dweller 11/?/2020 every 2 weeks for 3 month the reward has been the pet Hungering claw
I have submitted 2 tickets on this mount not appearing. 2 GMs told me that it's just RND
This week is week 10 of Shadowlands 1/26/2021 the same thing again hungering claw I don't get it

Hi all,

Like the rest of you, I spent time completing the entire quest line in anticipation of adding Fathom Dweller to my mount collection. I have been waiting for this mount since right before the pre-patch to Shadowlands, but the Hungering Claw is the only reward that has ever been available. Checking posts from the guides https://www.wowhead.com/guides/kosumoth-the-hungering-secret-mount-pet, and the quest ! Danger: Kosumoth il Famelico#comments shows others too have been waiting a long time for this mount. Some posters contacted the game-masters only to hear there is nothing wrong with the quest drops. The bottom line is there is no guarantee when the mount will be the reward. According to the news under Kosumoth, the EU realms, having the same problem, saw the Fathom Dweller reward in January 2021 https://www.wowhead.com/news=320308/fathom-dweller-kosumoth-world-quest-mount-available-on-eu-for-the-first-time-in-#news-post-320308. I have not seen the mount show as a reward, and am wondering if perhaps it switched to a random drop that just happens even though the Claw is the only listed reward? Has anyone been determined to just keep downing Kosumoth regardless of the posted Claw reward? Out out of sheer frustration and disappointment I think I will. Ugh, the frustration we pay for to have fun, not that frustration is fun lol.

EDIT: 4/8/2021 US Realm, got my Fathom Dweller. 10 high level players (non-group) waited & we used weak abilities so everyone could get a shot in. Still don't understand why Blizzard would make us wait so long for a water mount.

This mount is up for one more day, tomorrow Tuesday 21-07-14 and then it will reset on Alonsus-EU. Did it today and was so suprised when the mount was up. I already started the quest several years ago but checked every orb and the fifth was the first I could interact with, thought I had done something wrong at first. But it was not bugged I had just forgotten I stopped in the middle of it long ago. I wish there were some faster way to check the progress.

I missed this when it was up 5/17 on NA as I wasn't subscribed and was terrified how long it might be until it was up again... but to my surprise it's up again for the next 2 weeks on NA starting 6/28/2022! Get it while you can! Re-sub if necessary, don't be me!

World quest is UP as of today's reset. Drop = Abitante delle Profondità (on my cluster at least, Elune, Laughing Skull, etc)!

I was actually heading to this area to do the new pet quests for Breanni (new Dalaran) - and while on my way to the quest site I saw him up with the blue quest symbol so decided... He's lvl 45. I'm lvl 70. Suuuuuuuure why not.

Crazily enough - he dropped the Fathom Dweller for me... :)
...now onto the quests!

For those, who also was wondering if doing the thing with the orbs "unlocks" this world quest account-wide: the answer is NO! If you want to be able to do this on other characters you will have to do the whole thing again...and again...and again. Why would you want to do that? I have had the idea, that it may will offer different rewards on different characters...One day I will test it. Not now.

I don't know if they changed anything, but I went to finally do the whole secret getting the orbs today, and found out it the world quest is available for the next 10 days in the US/Azjol Nerub(October 6, 2023) . Didn't even have to wait, took about an hour to do.
