I've been gathering Starlight Rose herbs for two days now, got two full stacks of them and still no item to advance a rank. Anyone any idea on how to get this or if anything special needs to be done?

Howdy. Had contact with a GM about this earlier today, he told me the item for this has a 0.1% drop chance.

Anyone that has managed to find it has been incredibly lucky.

Can't screenshot as conversation was verbal.

EDIT: Received this quest item finally, personally after about 500 starlight herb nodes. Not all herb levels at rank 2 (there's a rumor about that going around). Just super rare.

I found this today with 483/800 skill in Herbalism and I can confirm you don't need rank 2 in all the other herbs for this to drop since I have rank 1 in Fjarnskaggl and rank 2 in the rest.

Got the item 15 mins ago through my custom route. I've spent 7-9 h farming it non-stop with rank 2.
For everyone else: after obtaining it you will be sent to Dalaran to speak with Herbalism Trainer. Get another quest and head to 55.7 25.5 (cave entrance) in Azsuna. You will need 20 Dust, but I guess that's not the problem.

Be prepared to fight Rare (11M HP).

Anyone know if you need to be level 110 for this to drop?

My herbalist is 104 and was able to get rank 2...

After looting probably 150 Starlight Roses, one had this on it. Level 110, 243 Herbalism skill with rank 1 in everything else. Exalted with Nightfallen, but I doubt it's tied to that.

You do not need to have rank 2 in all other herbs to get this. I only have rank 1 in the others and I got one.

The best advice I can give you is to neglect your character. Bury this if you like but the way I got it was to just stop trying. Log off. Don't log on your character for a day, or even a few. If you log on, don't pick anything.

I can't say for sure that this is an intentional "punish effort" reward, but if not there may be some sort of hidden time-gating involved that'll only let you have it a couple of days after you start farming hard. I farmed for a day straight, didn't get it, gave up, and after a few days logged back on my herbalist and got it from rose #2 I picked. The probability that this would happen for rank 2 and rank 3 is unlikely enough to say it wasn't just chance. (And I know how to do P-values thankyou very much.)

Also, save your Starlight Rosedust. You need 20. This is, to my knowledge, the only grey item in the game which is ever actually required for anything.

Both me and my friend got the drop from the same flower, and considering the low drop rate we could assume that it's not a personal loot, but bound to one specific flower. Something to consider if you find it, tell your friends and maybe they can get a the loot as well.

Don't be like me and don't rush to buy 20 Starlight Rose ! Read quest text and you'll see you actually need 20 Starlight Rosedust. It will save you some gold. :)

Can also confirm that you don't need any other herbs at any ranks, I only had starlight rose at rank 2, foxflower at 1 and felwort at 1. Got this item after about 550-600 starlight roses. This makes you go redeem the quest. After you do, you pick up another one called Tharilon's Fall. Remember to keep 20 starlight rose dust so you can lure the guy off his trap :)

I'm sorry for everybody who tries to find this so hard with no luck.
But i can confirm that you do not seem to need anything in order to get this. I am a fresh 110 with 284 herbalism skill, i don't have anything at rank 3 and most are rank 1. I just tried to push my skill when this sweet little thing dropped randomly from a starlight rose note in suramar.

With the "increased" chance of getting rank 3 in the 7.3 patch, here are the numbers of herbs (not nodes) I had to gather using Server Hop and the location I used to get rank 3 for each one.

Aethril: 2200
Location: 66,47

Dreamleaf: 1000
Location: Area in front of DHT - killed Vilepetal Rooter, Desecrated Ancient, and Defiled Grovewalks and herbed their corpses

Foxflower: 100
Location: 43.7, 7.2

Fjarnskaggl: 730
Location: 46.6, 31.7

Starlight: 5 (yes, it only took a few gathers to get rank 3)
Location: 26.1, 23.4

Significantly increased chance in 7.3. Within an hour and a half, and 250ish roses got both rank 2 and rank 3. Also, herbalism skill seems to affect whether you get the rose or the dust pre-rank 3. When I started, my herbalism skill was around 500ish, and the drop rate for the rose was 0.24 according to gatherer. When the rank 3 item dropped and I started going to Dalaran to get the quest, I rechecked the drop rate and it was 0.56 and my skill level was 741.

I am wondering if the drop rates are bugged as I am nowhere near the numbers of other people here. I have harvested more than 4000 roses and still haven't seen the item dropped. I'm rank 2 currently.

EDIT: Dropped for me after 4500 gathered nodes.
