Any numbers on the quantity of Rank 2 to discover Rank 3? Seems I have made hundreds....but, then again the RNG gods despise me.

Unlike the old potion/elixir/flask specialisations, where procs were capped to 5x potions created in total, all rank 3 recipes can proc higher than that. I have had a 16x proc on the rank 3 ancient healing potions, and there is a screenshot of a mage proccing 18x flasks at once.

As for the overall proc rate, I have just crafted 174x Ancient healing potions and ended up with 273x in my inventory. This is an excess of 57% over the original value, meaning you will roughly get half a potion for every potion you make.

Also, obliterating one potion results in a fairly clean average of 1.5 Obliterum Ash. This means that on average, 66 potions will create one Obliterum.

But as we know from above, at rank 3 you only need to make roughly 44 potions to end up with 66 potions to obliterate. 44 potions require 4x Yseralline Seed, meaning that you will roughly need 176 Yserraline Seeds for one Obliterum.

Just to reiterate: this is placed into your inventory after a random number of brews. Some folks took only a few dozen crafts, others over a thousand; I personally got mine after 400 or so and I also managed to get a one-off 19x proc! http://imgur.com/a/GT0dq

Highest proc: 20.

My experiment was to try crafting in different places.

Walked into the middle of Dalaran, that teleport area for the Chamber of the Guardian. Stood in the middle of the Portrait Room and it popped on the first pot.

Getting Rank three at skill level 740 turned the skill chance yellow, green at 750?, grey at 760.

So I am not sure if this is because of conicidence or terrible RNG.

I had made over 1500 Ancient Healing potions at rank 2 with no rank 3 recipe. At the time my Mana and Rejuvenation pot recipes were at rank 1 as I hardly use them. But I decided to make some of those and got both rank 2 recipes in about 50 crafts, so now all potions are at rank 2. I then resumed making Healing Potions and received my Rank 3 in about 30 crafts.

Its hard to see if they are related or coincidence, but if looking for Rank 3 and you dont have the others at Rank 2, you could at least try it to see as its not exactly easy to test it again.

Be aware, the recipe is not learned automatically, it will appear in your bag. So not craft and be afk.

I can confirm you don't need to be level 110 to get this recipe. I got it as level 100, 740 Alchemy skill, around 150 potions crafted to get it. I got it in my inventory and had to stop crafting potions to learn it. Don't craft afk.

- Rank 3 potion recipes are a discovery from crafting potions at rank 2
- You need rank 2 to get rank 3
- You don't need to be 110 to get the recipe
- It might take some time to proc (reports vary from 20 to 1000+ crafted potions until recipe was aquired, so small chance and random)
- The rank 3 spell is not learned automatically like flask recipes
- Once you get the rank 3 "discovery proc", the recipe for rank 3 is placed into your inventory (make sure to have a free bag slot)
- You need to click the recipe in your inventory to learn it
- If you didn't get it after thousands of potions created, check your inventory bags and bank, you might have already received it but simply missed it

Someone is going to hate me, but I just bought rank 2 and made 8 pots before I got the rank 3 recipe. I only had rank 1 mana and rejuv at the time. GL all of you alchemists trying to get this recipe, dont give up!

Going to add my own little notes here.

As of 8.1, I decided to go back to my alch and level up Legion Alchemy. I noticed I only had Healing Rank 2 with Mana Rank 1 and Rejuvenation Rank 1. After 54 Healing potions made, I got the Rank 3 recipe in my inventory. Working on the Mana one currently, so we'll see how far that goes before I run out of seeds and start poking at Rejuvenation.
