Sinister Spores are obtained primarily through the Gladiator's Sanctum work order, called Conqueror's Tribute. I have received about 3-4 stacks of various sizes (7-20) over the past 3-4 days.

They are extremely potent for killing enemies in outdoor world PvP and does not appear to share Global Cooldown with your other abilities.

Amazing in Ashran, Kronus falls in about a minute.

Seems to be stealth nerfed to a CD of 2 minutes.
Missed the times when you can put this on the other faction's boss all the times in Ashran.
Was nerfed again in 6.2 from 90% to 50%.

Didn't see any mention, but these do NOT work in Ashran in Legion.

To confirm and add to Xenions' most recent comment: these and Bomba di Brillantini Superappiccicosi do not work in either New or Classic Ashran. Today I've extensively tried both on a variety of targets, but it always comes up "You are in the wrong zone." or does nothing when in combat. I guess it makes sense, as both are now considered instanced battlegrounds. Sadly, it does make these Gladiator Sanctum items as good as useless.
