This is an agonizing decision to make. Anyone have an idea of the proc rate to get a free item, and if you can get more than one?

From what I've read about the elixir mastery, that one procs a lot and even saw it proc 4 elixirs in one craft. So far I've heard absolutely nothing about the transmute proc rate.

I've transmuted Primal Might 3 times, getting 2 twice and 1 once. I've a skyfire diamond and got 2 skyfire diamonds from one mute.

Okay guys, I need some help figuring out what I should be a master in. I mean..it sounds like trasmuting would be an awesome thing to do perhaps for making money and then I think..well I really wont need that because I heard its really easy to make money in the outlands..Then I was thinking...well then I'll do elixers! I mean that would be sweet to have an awesome buff when I'm doing a hard raid for example but those are expensive to make..then I was thinking about mastering potions and I don't really know that advantage of that so will someone please help me make this agonizing decesion and put some more info up!! Thanks ^^

Btw i did the transmutation quest chain, got the transmutation icon in my spellbook so it should work i think. But i've done five transmutations (all primal might) and still no proc. Is it just bad luck or am i doing something wrong :S

nvm, in the other thread at http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10899 it seems that this low procrate is quite normal :(

Hi i'd like an update from Beaker when he get to a hundred transmutes. to see the yield rate and compare it to mine after the same ammount of tries.

BTW i was thinking of the Q to get the mastery. it's like 500g to complete it cuz the mats cost right?

As of patch 2.1.0, when you Unlearn another mastery to take up Transmutation Mastery you do not need to do the quest. By that, you save the 4 Primal Might's you would need to get. Furthermore, all you need to do is go talk with Zarehi (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=22427). Not like above comments about Thrallmar.

I'm saying this, based on my own experience, from today 2nd of May 2007. I've been Elixir master for 3 months, but today I wanted to go Transmutation Mastery. I dropped my Elixir Mastery at the Alchemy Trainer in Shattrath, gathered the 4 Primal Mights, and went to Thrallmar to gain the first step (this), but there was no quest. Then I went to Zarehi (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=22427) in Netherstorm, and for my surprise I was able to gain the mastery without doing anything but clicking a button. So I saved my 4 Primal Mights, and can now use for incoming Spellstrike :D

would some one be able to tell if transmute mastery works with the transmute diamonds? i believe it dose but want to check befor i go 4 it... i have another toon doing JC and think the combo of the 2 would be great:P

If you have any other quests to get any other masteries, you will not be able to get this one. Just abandon the other quests, and you should be able to pick it up.

I was able to get the quest at 325 alchemy & level 68.
The quest appeared just when I got 325 alchemy, but the level may have changed.

For 4.3 all this is obsolete. Blizz has updated all the alchemy mastery quests to use more current mats.

This quest is currently the easiest (not necessarily the cheapest but.....) way to get your alchemy specialization of choice post-BC. The potion and elixir quest require drops from BC 5-man dungeons. Even with the dungeon finder you'll be waiting awhile for groups for Botanica and Black Morass.
Buying the Earths, Water, Air, Fire, and Mana off the AH is easy. Mights are usually not cheap though. If you're a gold pincher (like me :P) the mats are easily farmed nowadays. Go to the Elemental Plateau in Nagrand just above and to the east of the Throne of the Elements all the types of motes (except mana) can be found there. For fires the Throne of Kil'Jaden in Hellfire has plenty Fel Fire elems and usually have a higher drop rate. (Both places require being able to fly.) Netherstorm has many mana wyrms around the edges and elementals in the manaforges that drop motes of mana. For Earth Elementals the edges of southern Nagrand has quite a few more compared to the Elemental Plateau.
You'll need:
Learned Recipe: Transmute Primal Might (Sold by Skreah in Shattrath)
40 Mote of Earth
40 Mote of Fire
40 Mote of Air
40 Mote of Water
40 Mote of Mana
After getting the Mights pick up this quest at Thrallmar or Honor Hold and fly to the Stormspire and complete Zarevhi's quest.
Talk to Zarevhi again and click the speech thing to unlearn it if you don't want to keep Transmutation Mastery. ***This will cost 150g to do!***
To then respec talk to Lauranna Thar'well in Zangamarsh for Potions and Lorokeem the Master Alchemy Trainer in Shattrath for Elixirs (includes flasks).

If you rather spend time than gold, a good place to acquire motes is the Elemental Plateau in Nagrand. Fishing in the blue pools will result in motes of water. Motes of Air, Earth and Fire are dropped by the elementals in that area.

Just to let everyone know, and to save you the hour farming (or the couple hundred gold to collect the mats for Mights) -- if you were once a Transmutation Master and you dropped it for another profession, you simply go back to Zarevhi in Netherstorm and tell him "you would once again like to become a Master of Transmutation". It's free, it's instant, and I'm pretty sure you can get it as soon as you train Alchemy back. That I can't confirm though, too busy being mind boggled that I just powerleveled Alchemy for Cataclysm and went through all the steps...

As of Cataclysm, you no longer need the Primal Mights to spec into Transmutation Mastery. You only need to pay 150G to unlearn your current mastery, which you need to speak to the original quest-giver for that particular mastery to do.

I've been to both Zarevhi and Gribble and neither one currently offers the quest to spec into Transmutaion. I have the Primal Mights. I'm new to Alchemy and have no current specialization to drop. How do I pick up this quest, and who do I speak to in order to get it?

I just recently learned transmutation mastery after leveling my priest to 85, and I have a concern about the proc rate. I've done probably 9-10 truegold xmutes and only once have I created an extra. Once or twice nothing happened (expected), but the remaining times I'm discovering useless transmutes of eternals. What's worse is this doubles the cooldown it seems of the transmute. I keep have this happening and it seems like it's preventing me from getting extra truegold procs AND doubling the cooldown just to get useless wrath xmutes. Is this normal?

Just So I am clear...the warning means you can only choose 1 mastery AND that means once you choose you cant change? ie. I am potions master so now I cant be a Transmution master instead?

If u realy want to unlearn this mastery and go to learn a new one... make sure when u r unlearning it DON'T make same mistake like i did and learned it again and then unlearned it.... unlearning costs 150g so i had to cost 300g for that stupidy! Stay SHARP!

Although it says you need to be lvl 68 to obtain this quest.I found that it wasn't available until I hit 335 Alchemy. Hope that helps a few of you out. I know I was stumped there for a bit.lol

This quest is being removed in patch 4.3 and replaced with a version that requires four truegold to complete. Get this done ASAP while it's still easy and cheap!
