If you just pick the lock instead of getting the key from Gamon, you will get skill level from this. Instead of opening the satchel and completing the quest, you can just abandon quest to destroy the satchel, start the quest again and you will have a fresh, still locked satchel to raise your skill with. Orange until 30, yellow until 55 and green until 105.

If you will use this to skill up, it gets very slow at around 85 to get points and since you only need 70 skill to pick the lock of Gallywix's Lockbox for the quest Mission: Possible But Not Probable, don't bother using this too much unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
