Despite the tooltip you can't actually use this to remove a Tinker - it gives you an error stating "Must have the proper item equipped". This happens for the green version of the samophlange as well. A Tinker Removal Kit works fine though.

The name of this tool is a reference WoW has used at least once before. During the 1980s, the Thundercats cartoon was fairly popular and, at one point during an episode, the engineer has a bit of technobabble where he tells someone to keep their foot off "that blasted samophlange."

Famously, there's an outtake of the another voice actor saying "What the ^&*! is a samophlange?" in the background, forcing them to record the line again.

JIC it wasn't obvious the random stat of the tool is a random stat for tools only;
i.e., multicraft, inspiration, multi-craft, or crafting speed.
