I got 2 of these when I first got the skill level, then I haven't gotten a single one since out of hundreds of prospected chunks. I think this might be bugged. Shoudn't be that rare.

I have sifted 7000 units (draconium ore) of 3 quality levels with the help of a skill (dragon isles prospecting) of 3 skill ranks. I received 62 units of this ore. It rarely appears in loot. I got a lot of resources of different levels from this ore. It's best to leave it until you can sift it with rank 3

I'm a max prospecting JC so here's some info I have regarding prismatic ore.

After 5k Serevite T3 prospects (1000 prospects) I gained 31 prismatic ore. This has followed my 3% chance pretty steadily over the past week so it's safe to say that's about the range.

That said, I would suggest to anyone just to simply save it. At the moment the base skill bonus of prismatic ore doesn't even match T3 Serevite/Draconium. Meaning that if you would get only T3 gems from prospecting those ores, you still may receive T2 gems prospecting prismatic ore. In addition it seems that the distribution of gems from prismatic ore follows Serevite, you just simply get more gems per prospect. So your odds of receiving high quality rare gems, or a diamond, aren't all that better.

I say to save it because I have to have hopes that blizzard will either add tools/accessories to help you gain better gems from prismatic ore, or that they will up the base skill bonus it provides. As it stands right now I'm not losing anything from saving it either, so it's kind of cool to make the stack bigger. Hoping to hit 1k in due time.

Ok, so I have two of these, but when I open the prospecting pane, it's not in the list of available things to prospect. What am I doing wrong?

Short description of this item:
If you're lucky enough to get one, you lose 1 inventory slot until you're lucky enough to get 4 more.

And until then, you're trapped in the "too rare to delete, but especially too rare to wait until I have 5" scenario :D
