When it dies you can loot the body to recover some of the materials, just like a target dummy.

Junk item, not worth the materials to make as it is a pulse and doesn't really help to detect anything.

With the material cost I was suprised and disappointed that the item was used when releasing the bot. I assumed that it would have a cooldown similar to a battlestandard, but it doesn't.

The one time I made one it expired before a rogue came by.

It has its uses: I've been trying to get a screenshot of myself surrounded by as many combat and non-combat pets as possible, assuming Goblin Engineers can use these if bought. Anyone know if I missed any pets? My current list:

1) My bear (Hunters FTW)
2) Explosive Sheep
3) Compact Harvest Reaper
4) Scarlet Tracking Hound (from Dog Whistle that drops in SM)
5) Goblin Bomb Dispenser
6) Arcanite Dragonling (60 second cooldown on other dragons when used, so I didn't include the others)
7) Barov Peasant Caller
8) Gnomish Alarm-O-Bot

Need more info on this little fella. So far:

He is a consumable, don't be fooled by the '(10min cooldown)'.
He lasts 10 mins and then dies.
You can loot the remains once it is dead. The one time I waited that long I received all my mats back minus one thorium bar. Not too bad, recycle I say. However, this can have some looting problems, just like target dummies, if you log or change areas before the 10mins are up (eg. dying in an battleground or instance),
Pulses occur approximately every 5 seconds.This seems way too long to be useful to me.
The area of effect seems to be about the same as a large engineering explosive effect. This is centred around the bot.
He follows you around. Much better than being stationary.
He makes a mechanical whirring sound with an explosive noise at every pulse.
At 302 engineering he was level 53. No idea how much health he has.

Complete base materials are:

10xThorium Bars
2xRunecloth
4xRugged leather
1xStar Ruby (for the siren light)
6xCopper bars and a jewelcrafter (for 3xCopper wires)
2xEssence of Fire

Of course you can always use a fused wire from other looted engineering devices and save on the last two materials.

This item is getting a revamp in patch 3.2.

It is still unknown what purpose it will serve, tho.

As of 3.2:

- Does not follow you around. It roams in a small area at where it was dropped.
- Cannot be looted for material, it just disappear at the end.
- Only last 2 min.
- It will do an npc says: "Intruder alert.......... etc" if it finds something (or false alarm). I certainly hope my enemy wouldn't able to see that text. However, there is no way of knowing.

Overall, the lack of mobility makes this bot useless IMO. If I know there are things stalking me, I wouldn't be standing still to be a prey. If I don't know something is stalking me, I wouldn't drop this 5min CD bot in the first place. Another bad gnomish design....

How ironic, I'm building a Dwarf hunter engineer.

By the time I came up with the ability to make this, I had flare.....bummer.
Oh well. Still a nice toy.

Just tested this out with a level 90 feral druid. We dueled, I set down the alarm-o-bot and told him to just stealth around it. The bot sent out a message about an intruder, made an arcane explosion effect and de-stealthed the druid. I was pretty surprised. It's pretty limited in its uses but hey, it works. I guess you could slap it down on an objective or something.

This item is unique in that it dispels the stealth effects (stealth is an otherwise unused dispel type), meaning that an NPC (or in free-for-all arenas, a third player) can attack the previously-stealthed rogue or kitty before you do.

You know it's a false alarm if the bot doesn't give the pulse visual/audio effect. Also, it once went off while I was sapped, but didn't pulse until after the sap had worn off. Anyone know for sure if it works while its caster is CC'ed?
