Every race except for Pandaren can play a DK.
DK can use polearms, axes, maces, and swords.
DK start off at level 55.
Iconic Frost DK abilities:
: Increases all Frost damage done by 12%.
Special Class Hall Rewards
DKs are on the
Vanquisher Tier Token
, sharing tier tokens with
Tier 19 set:
Obliterate has a 20% increased chance to trigger Rime.
Howling Blast now generates 6 Runic Power while Rime is active.
Tier 20 set:
Every 40 Runic Power spent while Pillar of Frost is active increases the duration of Pillar of Frost by 1.0 sec.
Every 3 Runes spent increases the Strength bonus of your next Pillar of Frost by 1%.
Tier 21 set:
Two piece bonus:
Howling Blast damage increased by 15%, Obliterate damage increased by 15% and Frostscythe damage increased by 15%
Four piece bonus:
When you deal Frost damage, you have a chance to release a barrage of icy spikes at your target dealing (210% * 3) Frost damage.

What makes Frost Special
Legion Melee DPS Overview
Harnessing the powers of the frozen north, Frost Death Knights use their bitterly cold abilities to freeze the very marrow of their enemies bones.
Frost DKs use Runes and Runic Power as a resource.

If you want to play a Frost DK you will be most comfortable in a Burst AoE situation. Trash packs in dungeons and mythic+ as well as raid fights that require hordes of enemies to be killed quickly.
Cleave/AoE - Its AoE is very good, but its burst (<5s) AoE is some of the best in the game. Cleave is something Frost excels at, but only in short bursts is it extremleyt effective.
Mediocre Survivability - With the removal of
as a whole is noticeably weaker.
Low Mobility - Along with Paladins, DKs are now one of the slowest classes in the game. We now have
on a 1 minute cooldown that lasts for 3 seconds with no way to improve it.

In Patch 7.3.2, nothing was changed about Frost Death Knight except the addition of the new tier bonuses from

In Patch 7.3.0, Frost DK got a major rework that changes how we play and what talents we pick due to them being moved around in the talent tree or rebalanced. These changes were made to improve gameplay and increase talent diversity instead of us just picking 1 build and never changing it for the rest of the tier. As such, our talent choices are now much different and diverse than before. The reasoning behind the changes has been directly copied from the patch notes so you can see what they were set out to accomplish.

The synergy between
has dominated the spec, leaving little room for variety. We're adjusting this combo, and overall damage has increased to compensate. The result should be a more competitive talent picture. All three level 100 talents are tweaked for balance and to play more smoothly.

Talent Shifts and Rebalancing
The following talents have shifted around in the talent tree to provide more choices and allow for better balanced options. This requires targeted balance changes.

Level 75 Talents
The utility talent row on level 75 should now provide a better payoff in situations where Frost's comparative lack of mobility is felt.
