Shaohao was the last Emperor of Pandaria.

He was the Pandaren that imprisoned the "Sha of Doubt, the Sha of Despair, the Sha of Anger, the Sha of Fear, the Sha of Hatred, and the Sha of Violence beneath the ground. But he held on to one vice - the Sha of Pride. Emperor Shaohao's pride cloaked Pandaria in mists as he thought they were better than the rest of the world and they could solve their own problems. But for ten thousand years, they stagnated, their doubts and fears buried in the land, rising up to fester whenever they allowed them. Thus Pride is the most insidious of Sha and it is more dangerous than all the others combined."

His Story in Full

In 5.3 the quest in Kun-Lai with the Seer opened up his story and how the Sha came to be, after helping set his spirit free I can imagine he now seeks to rid the world of the Sha forever.

It only makes sense for him to be one of the Final factions of this expansion, as he is one of few that fully understands what it means to be overcome by Pride, and would understand how to steer Garrosh away from such corruption, or rather help us to learn how to destroy it along with him.

Just to add some extra information on the Emperor's lore, there are some videos of the burdens of Shaohao on World of Warcraft's youtube channel. These 6 short stories are chock-full of lore and elaborate on his quest to become an Emperor, purge his negative emotions and protect Pandaria from experiencing the haunted visions of the Great Waterspeaker. I definitely recommend these for anyone curious about Shaohao's life (as well as lore fanatics!).

To gain reputation with the Emperor, you must kill Ordon yaungol and fire elementals (which are also part of ), which can be found on various places on the Timeless Isle-Ordon Sanctuary and the Firewalker Ruins being notable examples. Mob reputation ranges from 5-25 on kill, so any rep boosts (guild perks, Darkmoon faire bonus) should speed along the process. There are also 5 quests to be completed, so whichever quests can be turned in at Revered, feel free to do this so that the trek to Exalted isn't so arduous.

Here is a short history of WoW grinds:

(1) Kill one MILLION pirates!
Reaction: Well that sucks.

(2) Ok, well, do these four annoying quests EVERY DAY!
Reaction: Awesome! No more million pirates! Actually it sucks. We hate dailies!

(3) Ok, well, let's keep the daily thing, only it'll be a few different quests each day, and every so often you get some regular story quests to progress through a story, and we'll beef up the rewards so you can get gear, some profession stuff, and mounts and/or pets, and you can have tokens to double rep gains on your alts.

I found my rep grind as a Tank in a Group to Work best by doing the following:

1: Get to collapsed bridge and cross it. The first couple of days after patch the grass area (blazing trail or something) is so heavily farmed you have to fight for every tag. Nobody seems to grind this place and they respawn fast.

- You need legendary cloak or similar fly effect to cross
- You can cheat this with either a Lock portal on other side or people sitting im multi passenger Mount

2: Go left around Ordo's arena thing (the wall) Mobs here have roughly 5-6 mill hp and are taken Down quickly by most Groups and Award 22 rep per kill with guild bonus.

- The casters are easy and only really do some AoE and summon elementals. Just dps em Down and the elemental with 40 mill hp de-spawns.

- The Melee are tough. Have tank face em away from Group as they constantly do a frontal cone damage abillity that can one shot dps and healers. They do this frequently so as a tank u have to dance left and right the Whole fight. They summon a bowl of fire with 400k hp that buffs damage. Destroy these quick.

3: When you get all the way around Theres an entrace to an area with 10+ mobs that can be pulled seperatly and a Priest Yangoul with 30 mill hp. All can be 5 manned.

4: There is also a chest wich is 1 time loot-able by all. It contains random drops and 1 burden of eternity.

This is my preffered way to grind rep with Emperor Shao. Happy grind peeps

While killing the mobs required for this quest i added up how many you would need to kill to get from 0 neutral to 999 exalted the total u would need is 1952 assuming u get at least 22 rep each kill even if your not human where u get the rep bonus or using the guild battle standard so thats 42,999 reputation from just killing the mobs, at this point i could only be bothered to do the one method of how many u would need to kill if anyone gets results of having bonus's from everything up at same time just comment below me. atm i am only half way through friendly and already i hate this grind btw doing the daily to kill 20 elites will reward u 250 rep so if u do that even faster.

While grinding your reputation don't forget to put down your Stendardo da Battaglia della Coordinazione/Stendardo da Battaglia della Coordinazione. 15% speedup is not to be discarded lightly.

Blizzard clearly didn't understand why so many gamers were unhappy with the way they designed rep grind in MoP and repeated the same mistake with this rep. The problem was not about daily quests themselves; It was the lack of variety.

No matter which procedure they use for rep gain, some will like it and some won't. Providing multiple ways to gain rep (killing mobs, completing quests, and doing dungeons) would significantly cut down on the number of unhappy gamers.

The typical progression for grinding rep is 3,000 neutral, 6,000 friendly, 12,000 honored, 21,000 revered for a total of 42,000 XP! (The other 999 are added automatically) Ive found one of the fastest ways to grind Shaohao rep is with a group of four or five hammering NPC's in Blazing Way. Four well-geared DPS will make them drop fast. We also help down any elites in the vicinity. We net close to 1,500 K an hour.

A recommendation on grinding this rep is by using oQueue addon, which allows make/join groups xrealm. Quite useful for servers clogged with the opposite faction or with servers with high population. Also, if a person of the group leaves, you can replace him quickly without spamming in chat and also you can restrict the ilevel needed to join the queue.

Little trick for rep grinding. On the platform area underneath the Ruby Lake, there is a fire pit. If you stand on that, the Kilnmasters attack won't hit you and provide a base to plant the standards. Not for solo grinding, but with a party, you can stand there, draw everything in, and never have to move. Kilnmasters become low priority to kill, focus on the burning ones first as they can do the most damage to a party standing in one confined spot.

The only "silver lining" to this rep grind is that once you get to exalted you will never ever have to do a daily quest for for the rest of this expansion!

Strangely, you gain reputation with Shaohao for killing any Yaungol on the Timeless Isle EXCEPT for Ordos himself. The Yaungol Fire God slain by the champions of Pandaria, and the Emperor couldn't give a damn.

I've tried several ad-hoc "rep farming" groups and find very high repair costs ensue because it seems everything is as uncoordinated as a lot (but not all) of LFR runs, so it's customary for them to always pull multiple mobs. 2-3 5-8M HP mobs on a clothie with no tank and no healing does seem to make for a ton of death. There seems to be one terrace where they all seem to go to, it has almost a dozen mobs up there AND they have pretty damn quick re-spawn timers, so as you get close to getting them all, boom, there are a whole bunch around you. Yes my class (FMmage) does have some mitigation, but they have this funny thing called "cooldowns."

And NO Grand Commendations?

I have to admit that as soon as I saw the grind on this one, I immediately checked "Move to Inactive".

I'm doing the daily, but I figure it will be around April 1st, 2014 before I hit exalted exalted (999/1000) with Shaohao. And all to get one mount, really.

If you are hardcore, you will grind anyway, no matter how ridiculous it may be.

If you are just a normal player, since this reputation give nothing really indispensable, you will ignore it, exactly what I did. In fact, even if it do give something, I would have ignored it all the same.

The best way to tell Blizzard that you hate what they did about game mechanism, is to cease to play wow and pay them until they correct it.

Here's the best place, IMHO, to grind for Shaohao rep without the legendary cape: the western part of Ordon Sanctuary, with the burden chest. It's relatively safe from Incensiere dell'Agonia Eterna 'd people,on Ner'zhul at least, the mobs are mostly AoE based, and it is centralized between the tree and Cauldron of Flames ( put a Stendardo da Battaglia della Coordinazione / Stendardo dell'Unità there), and Urdur il Cauterizzatore spawns here, along with Gran Sacerdote di Ordos . These mobs give a lot of rep , 20 (25 if buffed with the Stendardo da Battaglia della Coordinazione ), and the mobs can drop decent amounts of gear, money, and utility/vanity items.

If you have any legendary cloak, however, just grind in the main sanctuary, as most Incensiere dell'Agonia Eterna 'd people do not have the cloak. It's much more mob intensive, though, so be careful.

In both strategies, I reccomend bringing Strano Fungo Luminoso and Erba Debolmente Luminosa to "auto-heal" yourself when needed. Swim into the fatigue waters, and it'll let you mount up on a flying mount. Head towards the sanctuary, preferably on the northern side going south, and use a slow fall, momentum killer ( jump effects like Salto Propulsivo or Balzo Eroico ), or purchase a Aliante Dorato , and you should make it.

Just FYI, in order to get exalted from scratch by just killing mobs, you will have to kill one thousand sevenhundred and fifty elite yaungol. And you need to kill the strongest ones, AKA Eternal kilnmaster, or Blazebound Chanter.

Did i forget to mention that this is with human racial and guild perk calculated in?

Before you get any smart idea, you cannot get rep for this faction in a group larger than 5 in the area. So no 40man raids wrecking the sanctuary for easy rep.

Back during MoP, I ignored this grind because it seemed impossibly overwhelming. Now, as a mighty level 100 -- with semi-decent gear who can kill most anything on the Island with relative ease -- I find this grind to still be impossibly overwhelming. Pack a lunch boys (or a few hundred lunches), you're going to be here a while.

I found it alot easier. 1 daily = 250, 20 minutes at spot and you have a 1000. grinding few thousands a day is kinda boring but 1000 daily isnt.

I just want to share my experience. This reputation was always super intimidating due to the lack of dailies and the sheer grindyness of it.

I HIGHLY recommend using Group Finder to server hop. Trust me. I am not one to have the attention or determination to sit somewhere for hours and grind, but this was a LIFE SAVER. I went from struggling to get a thousand rep a day, to easily getting 10k. I was able to go from halfway honored to fully exalted in two days. It goes so fast, and you have so much fun sweeping out the area of mobs that it keeps you encouraged.

I'm a Boomkin, and I farmed in the Firewalker Ruins. I preferred that area over higher rep places because the mobs don't do the awful charge-stun when you aggro. Using Starfall made it a joke. I could wipe out the entire place in a minute or so, and then just move onto another server to do it again. I did most of the grind later in the evening or early in the morning, but not seriously crazy hours. I would just avoid peak hours like 12 to 5 PM.

I was hoping to come here for advise on better ways of farming than millions of fire youngols, turns out the traditional way is still the only way. Timbermaws all over again

Edit- So after finally reaching revered,(I put this grind off for too long) here's my advice- pace yourself. I try to get as much 'bang for my buck' with everything in this game, so this is what I do-. Do the daily, killing 20 elites for 250rep. Buy the three-breeze-terrace challenge token(1000coins isn't much compared to what your getting from weeks of mob drops), kill the challenger for 50rep and all the other elites that spawn on the terrace for another ~250-300rep. Turn in quest and head to Ordos upper terrace, killing every elite youngol along the way for 15-25rep a pop. Get another 20, or so, kills at the top and you just got about 1000rep in roughly 30min. 1000rep is one 'partition' on the bottom experience bar, if you're displaying the rep as that, so 20 days of this and you've got it. Or grind another half an hour for another 1000 rep, and you can cut that down to 10 days.

I for one need a change of scenery after a while, so 30-45 minutes of this place is all I can handle before I go off work of some other grind.

If you didnt get this rep to exalted in MoP as part of a group. You will never get exalted. The Timeless Isle is 24/7 camped by pvpers, who will gank you all day long.

I just went early honoured to exalted in one sitting. We (group of originally 2, to 4, back to 3 people) were probably farming for around 6 hours, and my human friend that had no reputation with Emperor Shaohao ended up on 9k into revered. I'll post my route and the required items for it since you can get around 1300-1500 per cycle without the guild banner or human racial buff, so you'll net a lot more if you have either of those. Might seem useless given we're nearly into Legion, but I figured this might be helpful for anyone that's trying to do it especially as there's recent posts about this.

1: Purchase gliders from Ku-Mo for 1000 Timeless Coins.
2: ***Requires honoured*** Purchase the Scroll of Challenge for 500 Timeless Coins from Mistweaver Ku.
3: Pick up the daily from Emperor Shaohao that requires you to kill twenty elites. You will complete this on your first cycle.
4: Start at Firewalker Ruins. When we did this, there were people solo farming here so we missed it on some runs.
5: Make your way up north to the upper Blazing Way -- there's a lot of elite mobs here, and most solo rep farmers don't farm this since their AoE's can hit fairly hard.
6: Go south-west across the bridge, and when you come to the destroyed end glide down to the ledge to your left as described in other posts here.
*** This step requires honoured, a group with someone that's honoured, or for someone to have already summoned*
7: Travel west along the outside of the Ordos Sanctuary and then glide down to Three-Breeze Terrace -- it'll be directly west of you beneath the cliff ledge. Use your scroll of summoning and kill the mobs that spawn.
8: Run back to The Celestial Court and restock on gliders and/or Scrolls of Challenge as you need them.

Keep in mind that this route is best utilised on quiet servers or at night time so that less people are farming. That, and the more people in your group running this route maximises your reputation gains and difficulty. As for the mount costing 100,000 coins, you'll definitely have enough by the time you finish this reputation if you're just starting it. Sorry if this seems unorganised as far as linking goes -- first post on Wowhead even though I've been using it for a long while.
