Couple points. Don't loot the treasure in Spire that contain these if you are close to the cap of 200. If you do the treasure disappears and you can't acquire it again after you have used some. Big waste.

Not sure if this is bugged or not but while questing in Spire in have gotten quite a few of the hidden treasures which include Arakkoa fragments. But everytime I go to solve a piece that costs 50 fragments it drags down my total to 10. So I had 155, I just solved a 50 and after its done I have only 10 left :( This has happened 3 times now and I'm not sure what I'm missing.

Edit: I hadn't gotten the book to increase my skill cap to 700 when I posted the above. So perhaps that was the problem. Still a bug in my mind, but at least I now know why!

If you are looking for these items, there is a cache of 44 (or at least that's what was in it when I finally looted it today) of them sitting on a thick piece of rope that goes across a path at at Veil Terokk, literally right over the head of the flight master, Artiglio dei Cieli Meshaal.

I am listing this for two reasons. One is that ever since I arrived at Veil Terokk back during the first week of WoD, I saw a marker indicating something was at the described location but I never looked up until today and when I did, as a warrior, I knew I was either going to have to Balzo Eroico to a higher elevation and drop onto a branch, or, as an engineer, use the cloak to glide in. I chose option #1 because it's fun.LOL.....So warriors, we have the ability.

The other reason is because I am certain someone else besides me saw the same marker on their map as me and started crawling on all fours looking for some sort of discoloration on the ground, clicking at anything that seemed not brown, just like I did. So for the fellow imbeciles who probably got stared at while our toons looked like mental patients at an asylum, look up. 44 fragments is a big dent, especially when you need 250 to complete Guardiano del Nido Antico, which just so happens to be my current project.

Added 12/22/14: I have been dedicating quite a bit of time to arch. lately and have noticed that Arakkoa dig sites are hard to come by. Actually, hard wasn't the right word. Impossible fits better. I haven't seen one. I have completed more Ogre and Draenor finds than a museum could fit, but have yet to see Arakkoa dig sites at all. Its funny, I really don't enjoy reading very much. It probably says this in a guide and I wasted all this time arching and arching.

Anyway, Relics of the Outcasts and Smuggled Apexis Fragments in Spires are the treasures you want to look for. There aren't many, but when you find one, you know why there aren't many. I just opened two of them. One @ 56, 44 contained 20 Arakkoa fragments which is good, but the other at 51, 48 paid off to the tune of 54 fragments and an Cifrario degli Arakkoa. Big pay off.

The set back is actually not a setback at all. There seems to be a pattern in which any of the treasures bearing these two names require some thought to get to, even tight rope walking. Like, you can see it, but then you find yourself scratching your head trying to manipulate the environment or traverse a wall. So to help out, at least for the Relics of the Outcasts, each location has it's own thread and the page that contains the links to all the threads for Relics of the Outcasts is below.

I'm sure there is probably a page like this for Smuggled Apexis Fragments also. and from time to time, I am sure I will cheat a bit and look here for the right path instead of Heroic Leaping myself to death. Otherwise, enjoy solving the path to these elusive treasures.

Tip for anyone farming for the Arakkoa items or achievements - have a 90 or 91(Alliance) that just finished their Garrison in Shadowmoon Valley. Alternate between the digsite found in "The Shimmer Moor" (Arakkoa digsite) and other digsites, this way the map has no choice but to give Arakkoa digsite more than the level 100 random madness.

With Warlords, Archeologia fragments can be obtained from some of the Draenor treasures, but especially the Carrello Minerario from our garrison mine, even without having learned the skill. It's probably a side effect of being able to gather ores and herbs without the professions.

If you don't have Archaeology, you'll need to learn it to make use of the fragments, but you won't have to level it to 600. From what I've seen and heard, the amount you've collected before learning the skill won't appear until after you get some more -- in other words, learn Arch, loot more fragments, and the ones you already have should be displayed.

(seems to have changed with 6.2.x, now we only get these if we have Archeologia)

I still don't understand how you use these.I learnt archaeology but I can't use them. Do I need to give them in somewhere? Why is there such confusion with these items?

you can get some of these while mining in your garrison.

The cap of Arakkoa fragments is 200, if you have, for example, 199 of them and you can't get more, use Arakkoa Cipher. You can also buy them on auction house.

Since 6.1 the cap is 250, for the three Draenor categories.
This would prevent the need of Cifrario degli Arakkoas to complete the Guardiano del Nido Antico.

The new cap is 250. Even after training the Archaeology profession, the Arakkoa race will still be grayed out until you actually loot fragments from an Arakkoa digsite. So if you're capped and can't loot more fragments, you'll need a GM to unlock that race for you.
