As I see it, best way will be to farm Zaxxis up in Netherstorm for their insignia's, and turn them in to Nether-Stalker Khay'ji at Area 52 for the quest Another Heap of Ethereals.

The drop rate is approximately 50 % for the insignia's.

Each turn-in of 10 Insignias grants +250 Consortium reputation.

The Zaxxis also have a chance to drop a Ethereum Prison Key.

Also, doing the daily dungeon quest (Non-heroic) rewards you with one Ethereum Prison Key, and +250 reputation with The Consortium, as well as +250 reputation with the instance's respectable faction. ( For example Sha'tar for any Tempest Keep instance. )

The keys are the euvialent of 10 Zaxxis insignia, however sometimes the keys will unlock a friendly NPC such as a Lower City or other faction mob who will grant you rep with their faction. For Jewelcrafters mostly it is worthwhile doing this as you will get the relentless earthstorm diamond pattern as well as the bag of premium gems every month.

The monsters in the Ethereum prisons also drop Green (and sometimes Blue) items that can be used or vendored in the case of the blues, and mailed or auctioned in the case of the greens.

Edit: You also get the consortium Tabard and once you have finished A Thousand Worlds The chain changes further down the track depending on your reputation offering a better quest if you are exalted than if you are revered.

The Ethereum Prison Key droprate is higher than you think and will save you some time farming up to Exhalted. Pity that the blue drops from prisoners are BoP since it would have added great monetary value to this Achievement.

Took about 4 hours on my lvl 80 hunter to get from close to revered to exalted just grinding for the Zaxxis Insignas. In that time I got 17 Ethereum Keys, 32 stacks of netherweave, and earned about 300g vendoring everything else that dropped. And I got 500 rep with Lower City, 1000 with Keepers of Time, and 500 with Cenarion opening the prisons on top of that. Easiest rep grind ever ;)

Simple achievement to get if you farm the Zaxxis mobs as recommended that drop Zaxxis Insignia. A few tips:

Make sure to do the quest line here so that you can loot Ethereum Prison Key.
Do a fly over of Mana Forge Ultris looking for Ethereum Jailers as they have a 100% drop rate of Ethereum Prison Keys.

Running heroic Mana Tombs (Auchindoun) gives reputation untill exalted. Easily done by a couple of level 80's. 1.5 to 2k reputation per run. Average run takes - depending on group - 30minutes.

Another good way to get these guys' rep is the Obsidian Warbeads if you are not exalted with Kurenai yet either, since you gain with with those along with the rep you will gain from turning these in. So it's taking two flies in one hit :)

Today I decided to get exalted with these guys, I was already 946 into Revered so it wasn't too far to go.

I was doing laps of the area under Area 51, going clockwise around the camps.

It took me 2 and a half hours to grind all the Insignias and Keys to get to exalted.

Every hour I handed in all the Insignias and Keys and sold any trash I had in my bags, I took records if anyone is interested.

1st Hour

204 Zaxxis Insignias,
10 Etherium Prison keys
148 Gold, 2 BOE blues
18 stacks of Netherweave.

Which got me 7490 Consortium rep.

2nd Hour

223 Zaxxis Insignias,
13 Etherium Prison keys,
116 Gold,
21 Stacks of Netherweave,

Which got me 8510 Consortium rep,
500 Sha'tar rep (From opening the Jails)
500 Sporegar rep (From opening the Jails)

Last half an hour

100 Insignias
8 Etherium Prison keys,
84 Gold
10 Stacks of Netherweave

Which got me 4500 Consortium rep,
500 Sporegar rep (From opening the Jails)

The above post has it right. Currently doing the same method, albeit much slower as I'm grinding between BGs to keep it from making me brain dead. The one addition I would have would be taking the netherweave and bolting it and then dropping it on the AH to further the profits gained from the grind.

Its a true pain to level this to exalted. I am farming those Zaxxis Insignia. Everytime i have 100 of those Insignia's ill turn them in to Nether-Stalker Khay'ji in Area52. You will get 262 rep each 10 Insignia's. Those Zaxxis members, south west of Area52 have also a low droprate for the Ethereum Prison Key.

I need 5000 reputation points to get exalted now with the Consortium!

Just found a brilliant way to max out your rep with Consortium w/o all the farming. Simply clear up to Nexus-Prince Shaffer, engage him, but don't attack. He spawns Ethereal Beacons (8/9 rep per) every few seconds, allow them to spawn into Ethereal Apprentices (23 rep per)
I simply went afk for 5 mins, as a Prot War i took minimum damage, or just watch tv/youtube/facebook for a bit, tab back in, kill all Apprentices, repeat!
Fantastic way, currently doing it as i type this out.
(edit) After tracking 19000 to 21000, i was able to get 1000 rep every 10 minutes using this method w/o using Stendardo da Battaglia della Coordinazione this rep will be the same for anyone, as his spawning doesn't ever slow or stop, it's just a matter of a time sink.

Mana thombs hc , don't kill the bosses, just the trash. Then reset after every run.
Takes about 3-4 min pr. run on my 90 hunter, and gives just about two bars on the way from reverd to exalted.
Hope that makes sence
