Maybe it's good to mention that not herbs as objects are counted, but it counts number of herbs gathered from node, which means if you receive three herbs, it gives three points.
And it seemes that herbing elementals (like Talonsworn Forest-Rager) counts too.

Herbing the Talsonsworn Forest-Ragers in Skettis does count towards the total. Quick way to add 5-7 to your total if you're out there farming Skyguard rep.

Strange fact: the Stranglekelp you fish up also count towards this achievement. Although it would take ages to get this achievement from fishing alone, every bit helps.

The Stranglekelp you get from the fishing daily might also count, I haven't been able to check this yet.

Anyone know if "herbalizing" certain mobs counts toward this achievement?

Probably just a typo, but tooltip says Gather 100 000 herbs, but criteria says you need to gather only 50 000 herbs. Pretty significant difference.

I've found Hillsbrad Foothills a very good place to farm herbs for this achievement.
There is practically yellow dots on your minimap constantly!

It should be noted that, in addition to 'herbalizing' mobs counting for this achieve - and multiple items from a single node ticking multiple counts toward this achieve - every herb received from opening containers like Sacca Grande di Erbe will count, as well. My guild dinged this achievement just now by having someone open up a Big Bag of Herbs with no herbalists online.
